Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice...

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

^^ You see, I don't have that problem with "official" thinking from Paramount or whomever because I no longer give a rat's ass what they claim "officially," although I can appreciate your situation. Indeed, though, I've been chatting with some very hardvore fans and I was quite surprised to find them rather readily open to the revised thinking on the E's size. Consequently this could also mean that the TMP refit might have to be upsized...and now wouldn't that also solve some curiosities such as fitting in the double decked rec room on the edge of the saucer. Basically I feel TPTB have f---ed up Star Trek so badly that I don't mind us fans turning our backs on the s.o.b's. and finding new ways to enjoy the Trek we knew for all these years. And personally I've felt--while not always in agreement--that fans have generally been smarter at understanding and reasoning out things in the show than the ding-dongs in charge who're supposed "experts."

Okay, nothing quite so dramatic this time around, but here's a cleaned up beauty shot of the E in combat...

And she can fire from her starboard phaser banks as well...

This could have been a scene from "Journey To Babel" when the E was under attack from the unknown (though later known to be Orion) alien ship. :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

FMM, thats so cool it hurts. I like "The Enterprise Incident" as it is, but I'd have loved to have seen the classic BoP's surrounding the E. Damned nice.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

A fun thread here. Keep up the imagination and energy. Nice ideas.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

That's from my brief experimentation with the toon shader. I too would have liked to have seen BoP's in that episode.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

I'm not sure how I missed them the first time but I was looking back over this thread and the latest conference room images finally registered in my brain and they are simply Outstanding!!!

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

The crippled Constellation still manages to act to effect a rescue of the trapped Enterprise...

Yo, Warped, i had a brain wave the other night.

What if an update to the writing thingie majig that uhura always got kirk to sign. However, ive always wondered its true purpous...

What if it could do such things as display visual logs, Play back tricorder data, download and upload data from computer terminals, act as an interface to the tricorder kind of like todays multi screen computer systems, hold personal data such as written logs - handwritten diary - pictures - archive footage Blah Blah Blaah.

Its kinda like an unseen prop really, but we never actually saw what was writen on them or what they actually did...

So i updated it :D

Now i know this is my art contest entry, but as this design is keeping striclty within the TOS boundaries (like all my work :p) but Iit has an unseen element to it, i thought id post my first post in here since my 'Klingons approach the enterprise' manipulation.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

^^ Good idea! I've always supported the idea that precisely because we never got a good look at the face of the TOS pad there was no reaon it couldn't be a very sophisticated PDA.

I've been a little slow with the images lately, but please bear with me. I was feeling a little off and I'm just getting back to my old self. I'll try to get a couple of images up this weekend.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

No worries. :)

My thought exactly, so i made into a 23rd century multi-media device. ;)

I updated it for the following reason;

I didnt like the idea of touch screens in TOS universe. The screen on mine is interactive but only with the 'Undesigned' stylus.

The physical buttons are added for that TOS look, of course. :p

And i dont like the term PADD for a TOS device.
I have yet to make something up.

^ Yeah, I've been following that discussion on Hobby Talk, and I am very sorely tempted to do some revising.

Unfortunately, in light of where my deck plans are aimed (Pocket Books), I may be stuck with the 947' figure, simply because so much of the material that they've put out regarding the ol' girl is in line with that figure. Plus, it's so deeply engrained in everyone's psyche that trying to dump it at this late date would be difficult at best.

Solving that bridge problem would be nice, though...

__________
First off, I haven't enjoyed Star Trek this much in ages. Keep it coming!

As the size of the Enterprise, I always felt the original series ship was portrayed as "big". It certainly seemed much more spacious than the movie Enterprise.

Just think of all the large conference rooms, the mess, shuttle bay, and even the crew quarters, etc., that we saw in the original series.

Yet in the movies, Enterprise seemed cramped. The bridge seemed smaller, in ST 5, the shuttle bay, at least to me seemed miniscule.

The one thing that really makes me feel that the Enterprise should be larger is that in the series, the engine rooms were like caverns, yet in the movie they were small.

So I'm all for a larger ship....

Conveying a more appropriste sense of scale here is rather a bitch.

Hmm. I don't think we're just outside Los Angeles here...

Now that's nice! I don't remember that long shot of Kirk and the Gorn Captain though.

Thanks. Stargate: SG-1 does little touches like this to offset the budget saving practice of using onsite location shooting by adding something that really suggests your story is set definitely off Earth and somewhere else.

Actually I don't recall this long shot vividly either, but it is a dvd capture so it must be there.
