The trailer look like a remake of The Hungry Sea which is one of my favorite episodes.

Loved the first season and can't wait to see where this goes. It's good to see a good sci-fi action/adventure again.
If only they had a bigger budget in 1965...The "Hungry Sea" comparison occurred to me as well. Although that was just the Chariot, not the whole ship.

not to mention family friendly. You can still have adult/important themes and still be accessible to the PG/PG13 crowd.
I really enjoy this version of "Smith." As much as it's pretty easy to say "they would have spaced her by now" I never got that. A person of sound moral character would never find it easy to take human life that way. I've had the same discussions about the original series with fans. They discussed leaving him behind a few times and maybe Don, when he was pissed enough, was ready to brain him, but nope, they're good people and it's hard to kill a person. Especially when it's not in defense of an active attack.
I agree -- no decent person should find it easy to kill. Although in the original show, they could've just stuck Smith in a cryotube. I think they were actually going to try that at one point in the opening arc, but decided against it because Smith saved Maureen and they realized they needed a doctor. Or something like that.
However, there is a wonderful moment in the otherwise pedestrian "Wild Adventure" early in season 2 where Don argues to let Smith float around in space rather than use their remaining fuel to get home. When Don asks why they should risk everything for him, Maureen says, "because he's a human being." That sums up the Robinson's philosophy and then Don comes back in his spacesuit and says "someone has to go out and haul him back in." At that point, you can tell Don has cooled down and saw she was right. As ridiculous as the series got, the heart was always there.
and that Season 1 really served as a "prequel" of sorts to being "Lost in Space".
I'm watching episode 3 of the first season and I love Penny. She's totally a teenager, snide comments and all. It's actually kind of funny.
