I like the design of this ship, but it begs the question of, why? True, it has to carry a huge tether, but the overall design seems more for style that utility.
I'm trying to imagine Nero having this huge thing built. Looking over the plans going, "I like it, but it needs more tentacles. I'm planning on taking this baby back in time to destroy a planet and several dozen Federation and Klingon ships. I want some shock and awe here people! What do you mean its gonna cost 30 trillion Romulan dollars! Do you take Visa?"
Or theres scenerio two. Nero needs a huge time ship with 300 miles of tether onboard. He finds the perfect ship, a slightly used Borg Octopus. Only three hundred million light years on her. And she's a steal at twenty billion Romulan Dollars.
Meanwhile, Spocks thinking light and compact. Maybe a Fuelsaver model. Manual time shift, three cyclinder impulse engine, and the dang driver seat doen't adjust!
