Nemesis - Extended Ending

Re: Nemesis - Extended (maybe) Edition

I liked the visual changes in the second vid better, but for musical rendtion, I prefer the original. I suggest you use the audio from your first vid, combine it with the second, and for a smoother transition loop over the beggining of the planet scouting with the end of the musical number.

Oh, and that repeat of the track's beggining, at the end of the second vid.. Didn't work, sorry.

I'll say your first effort was great, aside from the PARAMOUNT PICTURES PRESENTS and the starfield connection between the titles and the planet scouting. Oh, and why don't you use the publisized card of STAR TREK: NEMESIS over its regular title card counterpart? You know, this one:

Well?

I think what needs to happen is that you need to fade from your starfield to the zoom through the planets a bit slower. Your stars just disappear while the planet is already rather large on the screen. It's jarring because we see the planet first, and then suddenly these stars pop in around it. Are you masking out the stars around the planet at first, and then letting the full shot take over?

The planet is actually a Photoshop image of the planet, which zooms in until it merges into the 'real' thing. Had to do that since there's no clear footage of the planet zooming in cos the giant original 'NEMESIS' logo covers it up. I agree about a slower and longer fade is needed, so that it almost looks like its dropping out of warp.

Noted, and agreed. :)

There's actually no repeated music in the whole thing: the 'Remus' track picks up almost exactly where it stopped after the credits (there are a lot of the drum effects in the original track). I was hoping that they would cover up the transitions better. It works okay at the start, but not at the end.

Well?

The previous TNG films never used the publisized title card in their credits, so I've made mine match what came before in FC and INS. :)

Re: Nemesis - Extended (maybe) Edition

Say, do you think it'd be possible to indicate, that B4 is Lore, reactivated but with a new positronic brain and a different overal system schematic?

Click here for more ideas: http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=7112633&an=0&page=0#Post7112633

I think it could be done, there are plenty of lines about mechanics and Lore and can be used for a whole new thing.

Note, its just an idea. It WOULD bring a new resonance to NEM, imo.

What do you think?

Holy crap - much, much, much better ending. Fantastic cutting.

Why couldn't have they included these scenes in the Theatrical cut?

A better ending would have worked, for me!!! :scream:

Re: Nemesis - Extended (maybe) Edition

So far nice job! I liked the second ending a little bit better, but I really think the Picard/B4 scene is really important for the movie, especially the "moving-on" part. If I were editing things together, after the new first officer falls for Riker's joke and we have the few "ha-ha" reactions from Picard, Worf, and Geordi, I would then cut to the Picard/B4 scene and end off the movie. Its just a great ending and it mirrors the first time we saw Picard in Encounter at Farpoint.

Just my 2 cents. I also like the credit sequence. However, and I know it is not finished, the music is jarring. We have the fanfare and then it jumps into the slower paced Nemesis theme, only to then jump back up with action-y music. Also, with the slower music, it seems like the credits go on forever. By the time we finished the cast, I wanted it to end.

If I may make a suggestion, check out the first part of the "Star Trek Nemesis Suite" from "Star Trek: The Album." It begins with the opening, like in the film and them blends into one of the Nemesis themes. It is faster paced, but it sounds more in line with the music "bookends" you have at the moment. If you can't get to this track, PM me.

Also, one minor thing. I noticed you changed the cast list around with the "guest stars." I would keep all the credits completely the same. The reason they are like that are because it was like that in their contracts and to change that, it would be breaking said contacts (and, yes, that includes keeping Mulgrew's name there).

Granted, I doubt any of them are going to be knocking down your door, but still, I'd keep it the same.

Again, just my 2 cents. Nice job so far. I wish my computer had the tech to do this. I'd have so much fun!

Re: Nemesis - Extended (maybe) Edition

It fell into the subspace rift formed from the destruction of Shinzon's ship. ;)

Seriously, its in limbo. Haven't had a chance to work on it recently. I'll try get more work done sometime soon.

Change "attack Earth" to "Attack Romulus",etc, etc instead and it would make sense.

Easy to do.

Re: Nemesis - Extended (maybe) Edition

StewMc, my man, what happened?

Will this ever see the light of day? I'm not critisizing, just trying to keep the thread alive, somewhat.

It already makes sense. Shinzon wanted to prove that he and the Remans could do what no Romulan had managed to do for centuries: destroy Earth.

I don't think more of Nemesis is a good idea. I think they should make it even shorter in a DC. Maybe it'll be less terrible if they sum it up in 15-20 mins.

The project is still lost somewhere in the Barzan Rift unfortunately, one of these days I'll force myself to sit down and maybe finished it. ;)

Guys - you might be right the people to help me!
I was wondering: The short music when Riker and Picard are saying goodbye - you know, the whole "serving with you has been an hono" thing... that music is not on the soundtrack, is it?
Does anybody know if i can find that piece somewhere on the net, because I think its one of the best themes in the movie.

Thanks!

Its around the net somewhere, I'm sure you'll come across it somewhere if you look hard enough.

Thanks alot! You really helped me - wasn't aware there was a "Complete Score" Cd - you can't get that in Germany.
Thanks again!

I have an idea for the ending, if you wanna hear.

Sure, maybe it'll give me the motivation to finish this thing. ;)
Well, consider how TUC ended. With Kirk giving a speech in his Captain's Log that prepared the audience of the TNG, and a farewell, too.

What if you inserted, Picard's voiceover from the show, and added it in the end, just as we go away from the Enterprise? To have him say that voiceover, to sort of finalize the TNG era, and also, the 24th century, the way it first opened. With Patrick Stewart's brilliant reading of "Space, the final frontier" ?

I think it'd be great if you could add the voiceover, to properly finalize their story, while also leaving open-ended, like with TUC... What do you think?

^
Only problem with that is the lack of a 'clean' version of Picard's monologue, and having the TV TNG theme playing in the movie would sound a bit cheesy compared to the rest of the Nemesis soundtrack.
