I've been a huge NCIS fan since it first started, and I can't believe I never thought to check for threads on it before this week.
I really enjoyed this episode, it was great getting to learn about Gibbs past. The flashback at the end was pretty cool to, although I figured that it was Shannon from the first time Gibbs saw her. I also really enjoyed getting to meet his father, he's a fun character, I hope they can find an excuse to bring him back in the future. As for the actual mystery, it was pretty good too. I didn't see the whole incest thing coming at all.
As for the other characters families, so far we've met Ducky's mother, McGee's sister, and Ziva's father ( he was actually just in the season premeier, he's her boss). So far we haven't met any of Tony's family, although I do hope we get to eventually.

Based on Quantum Leap and JAG, it will have a completely ambiguous ending/cliffhanger.

I wouldn't be surprised. Though

Bellisario said to TV Guide that he personally thought that Harm won the toss and Mac went into private practice.

Do you think NCIS is the kind of show that would end with someone dying (Gibbs? Ducky?) or would it go out on a happy note?
Season finales I see death being a common event but as for a finale episode, I think it would end on a happy note.

They've got to do Tony's family at some point, after all the stories we've heard about them.
what about Abbey? All we ever see is some of the guys she hangs with -- sort of.
Do we really want to see her hanging with the Nuns?
We could use an Abby episode one where dare I say it....she picks up a gun instead of a DNA slide??

Remember: Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama sandwiched in between. So the incest is appropriate.

Not AL -- you're thinking Kentucky or Mississippi

I liked this episode a lot - it was enough to get a friend of mine hooked, and she'd never watched NCIS before!

Also about the car: holy crap Gibbs is driving Bumblebee around now!

Well we do see one of her bedtime partners (Well former :) pretty much every episode :)

Australia is getting the eps a week after the U.S at the moment so we got to Heartland out here last night (no doublt helped by it's usually a top 10 in the ratings program)

Ziva/McGee to Abby/DiNozo - "Gibbs has a father!" - classic :)

I haven't watched NCIS this season so far, even though I used to follow it. But I think that if they decide to follow up with Tony's family, it would be one of those cliched situations where Tony takes one of them to meet the family, and learn about some issue(s) that caused the rift between him and his father/family. But at least, in this case we won't abruptly learn that he's from a rich family like some shows did with certain characters, since it had been long ago estabilished that he's from a wealthy family.

Thought the reason for the rift had already been explained - his decision to go into law enforcement didn't sit well with his old man.
