So we're getting ...

Director Morrow

IRL NIS switched to Civilian Leadership in 1992, that's also the same year it became NCIS.

Do we know if Origins is doing one season = one year? I honestly haven't been paying attention to dates mentioned in episodes.

If Season 2 is 1992, then we could also have the agency change names this season.

Hmm, when is Origins supposed to currently be set anyway? One would assume it is currently in 1993 as they're going to be addressing the agency being turned from NIS to NCIS. Though whenever we see the date on a TV screen in an S2 episode, it's always been 1992. Regardless, by having Tom Morrow take over as Director now, that means he spends twelve or thirteen years as Director, as it's 2005 when he moves on and Director Sheppard takes over. This is a potential continuity issue as in a Season 13 episode of OG NCIS, the SecNav comments Vance has currently been Director longer than his two predecessors combined. Which given he'd been Director a little over six years at that point, and that Sheppard was Director for three years, means Morrow should only have been Director for less than three years.

They are going to rebrand in the final episode lol

I wonder if they made the same mistake I did in researching. NCIS was pitched in 1992, but as you said they didn't rebrand until 1993. Or maybe they are just pitching the name change, and it won't happen until next year

The clip calling Morrow former Secret Service is also a IRL reference, the first civilian director of the real NCIS was also former Secret Service

Do we know if they're going to film in NY? Or will they film in LA like NYPD Blue and CSI: NY did?
With so few productions filming in LA these days, I doubt they're gonna shoot it here. It'll go wherever the show can get the most tax breaks.

The first season kind of comes off as what older people think young and hip is. Like in the first episode, Abby was attending a "phat party." The term "phat" was already outdated in 2003 when that episode aired.

And let's not even get started on Tony's behavior towards women in the first two season actually is sexual harassment.
I've been mulling pulling out my old DVDs of the first 13 seasons of NCIS to watch it for the first time in ages, but I hesitate because of that kinda stuff.

The first two seasons have really aged badly. Especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ matters. Though granted, one shouldn't be too surprised to find out a network show from the early 2000s centering around the US military isn't especially enlightened on LGBTQ+ matters. Still, watching it in modern times, it is rather shocking that all the gay or transgender characters who show up in those season are either murder victims, or murderers themselves.

The show was really white back then too. The main cast consisted entirely of white people, and the only non-white recurring character was Ducky's assistant in the first season, and he was written out halfway through before being eventually replaced by Palmer at the end of the season.

I know I've got fond memories of the first couple seasons, but those are largely due to the chemistry between Gibbs, Kate, and Tony. I've memory-holed much of the rest, likely for the reasons you list.

Seeing references in some articles about Fire Country and Matlock, that Origins and Sydneys abridged orders will be ten episodes. Still no official confirmation Ive seen.

I guess this could help stretch the series out for longer if they have two seasons equate to a calender year.

Origins and Sydney will obviously be abridged seasons, given they're swapping each other out at midseason. Ten episodes would make more sense than the previously reported fifteen for Origins. With ten episodes. Origins can premiere in October and end just before Christmas, while Sydney can premiere in February and end by May.

Only one gay character on NCIS that I can remember fell victim to the kill the gay syndrome and his initially outing was was his saying that Gibbs didn’t like him be cause of he orientation and for once dinozzo was denozzle and said that wasn’t a factor at all.

Hawa’ii and NO were much better on the issue thought the it would have been better if LGBTQ actors had been cast.

New Orleans just had Shalita Grant who is Queer play the straight character.

What I was referring to was an S2 episode where the sailor's death they were investigating was learned through the investigation to be a lesbian, and her murderer, another female sailor who was her lover.

Though the example of "Evil LGBTQ+" that really dates the show bad was the episode where the murderer was a male who underwent a sex change as a means of disappearing. When Tony finds out the woman he'd been trying so hard to score with throughout the episode was in fact trans, his reaction closely mirrors Brian Griffin's from That Particular Family Guy episode.

For a show about Gibbs, anyone think Gibbs is the least interesting character in NCIS Origins? They've done so much to flesh out everyone else, even the recurring characters. Makes it feel like the DS9 of NCIS.

Its the Franks Show for me.

If NCIS was Star Trek, there would be endless internet debates trying to explain why Gibbs is taller than Franks in Origins but Franks is taller than Gibbs in NCIS.

TCW

Same reason why we haven't seen Franks head slap Gibbs in Origins.
