NCIS franchise

The Ducky tribute was a brilliant episode. Everything was just perfect, the variation on the opening credits with the mournful version of the theme, the various clips showing us some of the fun and happy times the characters (and by extension, the audience) have had with him. The case the Ducky was working on which the rest of the team picked up for the episode also provided some poignant moments in what was quite the emotional episode overall

Possible Man From UNCLE reference, Ducky's dog is named Solo, which I assume the writers intended to be in reference to Napoleon Solo.
That was a surprising cameo in tonight’s NCIS episode…
Indeed. And while I was expecting a cameo, I was not expecting that particular character. But it was a nice moment all the same.

Sydney hasn't even been officially renewed for a second season yet, meaning they likely haven't even started writing it yet, and won't start until if and when a renewal is announced.

and Brian Detzen has a writing credit on the episode.

Tony looked...off. His eyes looked a bit glazed as if he was a bit stoned or had a couple drinks, and he didn't seem to make eye contact with Palmer but toward something higher than Brian Dietzen's eyes. I don't know.

Ducky's force ghost?

He was asked to write the episode and there started on it about 3 week after the end of the writers strike and would like to have written for David McCallum while he was alive but his appearances on the show were reducing as Dietzen began to write.

The original cameo would have been a logistical nightmare so they went with a much easier one but still had to keep in under raps.

They had more clips but in the end whittled them down. The one of Ducky and Jimmy on the ATV was included because when it was produced, the EP had taken a photo of the two next to the ATV which was used for set decoration so they had to use.
(and that's as far as I've gotten).

I'm wondering why Gibbs couldn't have shown up at least for a brief scene since Mark Harmon is an executive producer on the show.

Isn't FBI keeping an eye for Gibbs? IIRC last season, one of Parker's old friends from the FBI made some comments about the team not giving more information about Gibbs. Maybe it'd be best if Gibbs stayed in Alaska.

And I could have sworn Ducky sold that house???
He sold the house he lived in with his mother. This is a different house we see in this episode.

Gibbs was the cameo I was expecting, as I alluded above. My imagined ending for the episode, everyone was gathered at Ducky's grave saying their good-byes. Everyone gradually leaves, leaving Palmer on his own as he says his good-bye and he too eventually leaves. The camera lingers on Ducky's headstone for a minute or so, the lighting changes to represent time has elapsed, we then see someone else standing at the grave, who is then revealed to be Gibbs. The episode would then end with the trademark, freeze to black and white "FWOOSH" thing on a shot of Gibbs's face looking solemn.

I thought of that. But Palmer kind of implied Ducky's mother had lived there once, plus the resemblance was striking, the driveway, the colors, and I think the entry is the same. I think the writers and producers forgot...wouldn't be the first time in the history of television

Just watched the latest NCIS...it was dumb. They would have recognized that it was a large truck without the mechanic, after all those years, and Parker would have recognized the soil.

And what if someone else answered the phone instead of Kacie... The guy should have known that. They could have had him stalking Kacie at her favorite coffee shop or something. He would have been able to figure out who replaced Abby and where to find her.

Paramount+ greenlit a Tony and Ziva spinoff. Will start production in Europe later this year.

Link with more details. But the bare essentials, it currently has the working title NCIS Europe. After the security company Tony runs is attacked, he and Ziva go on the run as they try to find out who is behind the attack and why. Ten episode first season.
