The Agent Afloat billet is specifically a deployed position on capital ships, while it's not impossible that some of that sort of thing could come up, it's more likely IMO that it will focus on the local resident agency (which is actually in Perth, not Sydney... but branding is king) with some inter-agency liaison stuff ala what Ziva's role was supposed to be but mostly wasn't AFAICT.
It just occurs to me that we just passed the 20th anniversary of the JAG soft pilot about a month ago. Jesus. Heck, to me, the peak of the franchise will always be the Holly years. The writing was trying to push some limits and the cast was actually engaged in the material and not running on autopilot. She left 15 years ago. None of the spin-offs ever really appealed to me. LA was DOA for me. I tried really hard to get into NO because I loved everyone in the cast, but I couldn't make it through the first season. I recently caught an episode of one of the newer shows (don't even know which), and I was completely checked out within five minutes. It's just so cookie cutter copy pasta.
I never thought I would like NCIS because I hated Gibbs in that episode. But, I find it very enjoyable now.
I mean, I didn't know him from that either. I really didn't know him. But Harm was my favorite character (at the time) and he was a jerk to Harm. So, yeah.
Tangentially related to NCIS: The CW will be airing The Chosen, the drama about Jesus of Nazareth. Seasons one to three will air back-to-back from July 16 to December 24. The connection to the topic of this thread? One of the characters, Rahmah, is played by NCIS: Hawai'i's Yasmine al-Bustami.

Curious that article states it'll only be avaliable in Australia. My understanding from previous announcements was it would be avaliable globally on Paramount Plus
As did I. But who knows, I'm sure if the writer's strike lasts long enough this could end up being broadcast on CBS in the States.
I laughed when I read this online comment concerning NCIS: Sydney: "If the first murder on this new show isn't somebody getting killed by a boomerang, then why are they even doing this?"
About a year and a half. L&O UK premiered in Britain in February 2009 and in America in October 2010. Curiously, Canada got the show much sooner than the US did. It premiered in Canada June 2009, only four months after the British premiere.
Sydney looks extremely low budget from that cast photo. It reminds me of all those 90's Canadian production I used to laugh at as a kid.
as far as I rember reading something that because of some law CBS/Paramount has to produce a certain amount of Australia produced/sourced/staffed content, in order to keep a lucrative broadcasting? licence down under, hence NCIS Sydney and I think some long time day soap the'll take over production of.
Despite the strikes, we're still getting new NCIS content in the fall. NCIS Sydney will premiere November 10 in Australia, then will premiere in the US on November 13 on CBS at 10:00 PM EST. CBS Will Have ‘NCIS’ Originals In Fall With Paramount+’Sydney’ Spinoff – Deadline
