Oregon did very well in the first quarter.
After that Sanchez went nuts and the defense figured things out. When it came time for the Ducks to pass, they just couldn't get it going.
I couldn't be more pleased with that effort, on both sides of the ball.
I didn't see that. What happened to Sanchez?Great win by the Trojans tonight.
Hopefully Sanchez is okay to go next week.
On a side note, Tressel is complimenting the former OSU starting WB, Boeckman, for his sideline demeanor and coaching of Pryor. Class kid, both of them. If I get a chance, I am buying a Boeckman jersey when I can! Game was almost dead even statistically. Very hard fought, typical Big Ten game.

Sanchez was sacked from behind and fell at a bad angle for his left knee. The Oregon defender kinda rolled him up (inadvertantly).
He came back for one series, but by then the game was well in hand. He sat down and put some ice on it.
Is that the same knee that was hurt in the off-season? Doesn't sound too bad right now.
What I liked best about the Buckeyes game tonight is that they played with some nasty fire. Not dirty but nasty. It was hard, hard, HARD hitting. The only two things I didn't like tonight is that they went away from the run too early, and they let Wisconsin run straight too much, not enough side-to-side. I'm feeling a whole lot better about the rest of the season, now. Illinois scares me with the way the beat up Michigan today. And Penn St. won't be a picnic, either. But I liked what I saw tonight

Did you watch the game or just see the final score? It wasn't as close as the score makes it seem. Purdue isn't very good and needs a better kicker and a crowd capable of making some noise, for starters.
I did watch the game. I'd say Purdue is better than you think, because the shoudl have beaten Oregon earlier. While I'm not convinced Penn St is the 5th best team in the country, they still did what the top teams are supposed to do: win even when you're having an off day.

I agree that Purdue should have beaten Oregon, but Oregon isn't very good.
Penn State was missing Jordan Norwood again and didn't use much of the playbook and won. They controlled the clock for most of the game, including running the clock out with 7:16 left in the game. Stephfon Green was headed for the endzone and inexplicably slipped, so it should have been at least 24-7. The media seemed to think this might be an upset and Penn State won easily enough on the road, so I don't really see how this game made PSU look shaky.
Now where did I say that Penn St looked "shakey" ? In fact, I was trying to compliment Penn St by saying that Purdue is a better team than some were letting on, and Penn St still beat them. I did say that I wasn't sure Penn St is the 5th best team in the country (turns out the AP poll has them at 6), but that's because I don't feel they've played anyone of substantial merit, just yet. Doesn't sound like "shakey" to me. The next three weeks will tell, though. That includes two road games against Wisconsin and Ohio St.

1 – Alabama (5-0)
Sorry, Sooners fans, but ... a close win over Kentucky is more impressive than a blowout of Baylor. The respective resumes have not changed, and the Tide are a clear number one for now.
2 – Oklahoma (5-0)
I'm still not convinced Oklahoma gets by Mizzou in the Big 12 title game—assuming one of the Texas twins doesn't crash the party.
3 – Missouri (5-0)
Bo knows beatdowns.
4 – Louisiana State (4-0)
This game in the Swamp should be quite an interesting matchup. I'm beginning to believe LSU is better than we thought, while the Gators aren't quite as good.
5 –Vanderbilt (5-0)
Now they belong here.
6 – Penn State (5-0)
I'm giving the Lions the benefit of the doubt, here, because I think Purdue sucks, and am not at all impressed that they actually struggled against them.
7 – Utah (6-0)
Would have given the Utes the nod for number five if they hadn't struggled (at home, no less) against a team PSU pummeled mercilessly. Still, for now, it's a high-quality win.
8 – Texas (5-0)
The resume improves slightly. I'm still not a believer.
9 – Texas Tech (5-0)
See Texas above.
10 – Brigham Young (6-0)
They struggled with Utah State. 'Nuff said.
11 – Georgia (4-1)
There's no way they survive their schedule without three losses, so you Dawgs fans just stifle yourselves with the "we can regroup and win a national title" crap. Still, when your loss is to #1 'Bama, you're probably
the best one-whuppin' school in the country.
12 – Southern California (3-1)
Is that odor in the air Peking Duck ... or Pasadena?
13 – Ohio State (5-1)
I hate to admit it, but ... that was a nice win.
14 – Florida (4-1)
I think Superman's in trouble, because Les Luthor and his Legion of Doom are headed to town.
15 – Virginia Tech (5-1)
Imagine the remonstrations if Tech misses out on a national title game because of a blocked punt.
16 – Ball State (6-0)
Anyone getting a team of destiny vibe here?
17 – Boise State (4-0)
Now that Fresno State's definitively out of the picture, BSU slides in behind the BYU-Utah winner as the number two potential BCS buster.
18 – Northwestern (5-0)
I have absolutely no opinion on this team.
19 – Wake Forest (3-1)
I love the way these guys play ball. They're like Vandy East.
20 – Florida State (4-1)
Hey ... a win over Miami is always an accomplishment for FSU.
21 – Michigan State (5-1)
Since late in the fourth quarter against Cal, they've been pretty darned tough ... but this is typical early-season MSU. They'll fold like a professional laundress soon enough.
22 – North Carolina (4-1)
Didn't take Davis long, did it?
23 – Oklahoma State (5-0)
They play Missouri next. Enjoy your stay, and don't come back.
24 – Pittsburgh (4-1)
What a difference a month makes: From defeat at home against Bowling Green to the Top Twenty-Five. Here's a not-nearly-so-wild-as-it-sounds prediction: They lose to Rutgers.
25 – South Florida (5-1)
Every freakin' time the Bulls get into the national championship talk, however peripherally, they lose the next bloody week.

JM how do you feel about Cal? From what I saw on Sat, they have a powerhouse Defense, but their Offense goes through spurts. Cal missed at least two scoring opportunities, but also made some great offensive plays. I personally think that it is a well coached team that whose offense hasn't gelled yet. If they get their shit together, they have a shot at Roses this year, IMO, though it is unlikely at this point.
