NBA Discussion - The Stretch Run

The celts need to prove they can close one out on the road, or they will never reach the finals.

Big Baby needs more minutes, and KG needs to go inside more.

Game 7 between the Spurs/Hornets ought to be quite interesting.

How about those Lakers?

They were lucky to hold on to the win in Utah last night. That gives them a couple of days to rest and relax while the Spurs/Hornets series finishes.

Lakers are 3-2 on the road so far.

:techman:

So, the Celtics appear to be trying to stick to their "win the championship without winning a game on the road" plan. Kinda sucks. Hard to say they won't pull out this next one, but maybe at some point, they ought to consider winning one on the road. This game had moments they could have taken over, and they could never quite do it...

Especially since the NBA Final's format is 2-3-2 (if the Celts should make it that far). I'd put away those thoughts of the C's winning a championship without winning one on the road.

What impressed me most about the Lakers' win in Utah was their defense. The one thing that bothered me was their ability to get stops in the heat of the playoffs on the road (Utah is one of the hardest places to play). Fish and T'Pau; gold stars to both, not to mention Lamar and Kobe.

I prefer New Orleans over the Spurs in the WCFs. They're less experienced than the Spurs and even though CP is a great player, Tony Parker scares me more. I think he's faster than CP. NO's D is not as good as the Spurs' either, though the Ho'nets are much, much better on offense.

I'm expecting a classic series regardless.

I would definitely prefer New Orleans to San Antonio in the finals, due to the experience factor.

The Lakers were 2-2 against both teams this year.

Game 7 of Celtics-Cavs has just started. There seems to be a haze or fog over the court. Is it because of fireworks before the game started?

Yes. Probably another reason the commissioner is against pre-game pyrotechnics.

Every time I see the Celtics cheerleaders it makes me laugh. I remember back in the 80's when the Lakers brought female cheerleaders to the NBA, the Celtics organization swore the Celts would never have cheerleaders. Well, that certainly isn't the only thing different these days about the Celts.

The Celtics escaped today, despite an heroic effort by James. Pierce had a monster game too.

Great game 7!

Could this Celts become the first team ever in the NBA to win a championship without winning one game on the road? Stay tuned.

No. If they make it past the Pistons (and that's a big "if") and face the Lakers in the Finals they'll lose if they can't get one on the road, because the Lakers have already proven their ability to win road games in these playoffs.

And if anyone doubted that the leprechaun has followed the Celtics over from the old Boston Garden, then that Paul Pierce free throw that got the lucky bounce ought to convince you. If the game had been in Cleveland the ball wouldn't have dropped in.

Dude I didn't really expect a serious reply to my post. :)

That and the 20 minute delay in New Orleans after the maintenance crew had to use fire extinguishers to put out some fire used in some between-quarter entertainment.

Great game 7 last night. The Celtics are going to have to work mighty hard to avoid a let down loss tomorrow night. I just don't see how they're going to turn around and win game 1 against Detroit with so little rest.

I'd give more credit to the dearly departed Red on that one, rather than the leprechaun. He wasn't going to sit there and watch the Celts lose that one...

Amazing Game 7, one of those big one-on-one matchups. Celts finally got someone to step up and match Lebron, great game out of Pierce.

Onward to the Detroit series...
