NBA 2014-2015 Season Discussion

'Twas a better series than it had a right to be, but turned out as expected. With all those miles on him, Bron better get right to those cryogenic treatments! :p

Yep. Congrats to the Warriors. Without any Finals experience, they were just so much better than the Cavs, experience didn't matter. Iggy even snakes the MVP right out from under LeBron. Richly deserved. The series turned around once he was given starter minutes, his free throw shooting notwithstanding. I also love this because it keeps Jerry West as the only player ever to win Finals MVP on a losing team. BTW, West was also injured in those Finals. Pulled a hammy but still averaged like 35 a game.

LeBron is in a Catch-22. His team is in the lesser of the two conferences which allows him frequent trips to the Finals, but once he gets there, he meets teams that are simply better than his team and he loses most of the time. He is now 2-4 in the Finals and with the Warriors emergence, burgeoning powers in Memphis, Houston, L.A. (Clips), Portland (if they hold onto L.A.), it's not going to get any easier as time goes on.

The difference between the 2-2-1-1-1 and 2-3-2 formats are all in people's heads. One of those things sportscasters make a big deal about because the real statistics are boring television.

The odds of the home team for each individual game don't change based on whether that home game is game 5 or game 6.
:wtf: No one said the odds changed "because it is game 5".

Game 5 is almost always pivotal in a 7 games series, so it is of utmost importance as to where that game is played. Every team has a better chance of winning a game at home rather than on the road, especially in the latter parts of a 7 game series.

In the '84 Finals, the last year of 22111 (before this year), the Celts won game 4 to tie the series against the Lakers. They went home in game 5, won, and set themselves up to finish the series at home in game 7, which they did.

In the '85 Finals, the Celts also won game 4 to tie the series, except, this was the first year of 232 and game 5 was in L.A. The Lakers won game 5 setting themselves up to have the first crack at an elimination game. They won game 6 in Boston, and the forever bitch-made Red Auerbach squealed like a stuck pig about not liking the 232 after the series. There are many other examples.
