Nazi's in Outer Space

Well, it was good enough for TOS, VOY, and ENT. :)

But TNG and DS9 did have 'metaphorical' Nazis. At least, episodes about ethnic cleansing, totalitarianism, etc.The Cardies sure felt like a Nazi allegory to me.

There is a big difference between episodes about totalitarianism, ethnic cleansing, war criminals, and introducing literal space Nazis with swastikas, uniforms of Third Reich, etc. The former is not cheesy and silly, the latter is.

But you know what? They don't need to, because that isn't the point of fiction. Characters are not people. They are constructs, representations that incorporate select characteristics, the purpose of which is to facilitate the telling of a story. If you want reality, there's only one place to find it. Fiction at best suggests reality, but it isn't reality; it can't be and needn't be.
i like your post, all of it. just picked the part above to point out that some of what we believe to be reality of nazi-germany and ww2 might be fiction as well.
i always thought the romulan empire, rather than the cardassian union, resembled a fascist regime more closely.
