Nation's of Earth in the 23rd & 24th Centuries

Japan isn't allowed to have a standing military, the U.S took it away from them after ww2. The U.S protects Japan, thats why it a choice for military personnel when they come into service. They dont even have a navy. Yes they have secruity forces, but nothing close to a military.
Currently the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force has the second largest navy in Asia (one carrier, many destroyers and frigates), China has the largest Asian navy. The Air arm operate over 800 military aircraft, including F-15s and F-2s. All Self-Defense Force personnel are legally civilians (special civil servants), in spite of that piece of fiction, they are Japan's uniformed military.
As far as the rain forest being cut down, yes I now the reason becuase villages where crops grow the dirt is only good for like 5 years
It's called cow manure, you mix it into the soil. One of my families farms in Brazil (on former rain forest land) has been producing food for over a 160 years.

if the japanese people keep killing whales and dolphins for meat even though its banned
Apparently not banned by them, Japan is a sovereign country. American Indian's hunt and kill whale too, the Makah indian, less than 100 miles from where i am take whale, I know because I was there a couple on years ago when they pulled one of their kills up on shore. Didn't taste bad raw (chewie), better cooked.

:):)

got me on the navy part.:)
No Whaling is banned by IWC(meaning it doesn't matter that its sovereign). Japan hunts endangered whales on the research side as they claim which is bull. Mercury is inside whales and dolphins, eat enough of it and the population will suffer. Amercia Indian's I dont know how they can kill whales legally, but my guess is that they don't have a quota of 1,000 like the japanese, so they are over looked. I wouldn't keep eating if I were you.

Japan doesn't even have nuclear submairnes, their ships pose no real threat to anyone, and aren't even allowed to engage in sea battle, so its nice of them to have the worlds largest navy, but its merely for show.

Yes, thats one way cow manure. But if that was just the basic solution that everyone used then rain forest wouldn't be getting cut down as is, but good job to your family, truly you help in the long run by not cutting down the trees that help keep carbon levels down.

But getting off topic, like I said Japan if isolated just living off its land could not support its current overcrowding population. So thats why I think bigger countries will consume the smaller ones, and world powers will be established. I think you see Asia as one, Europe as one, The united states consuming canada and the smaller islands around it, Etc. Hey it could even be a means of better relations in the world.

Hey it could even be a means of better relations in the world.

Of the half dozen "big" wars being fought today, only one (Afghanistan) involves major outside militarys, all the others are civil wars/insurgencies, in other words internal. Of the more than forty medium size wars today, again mostly internal armed conflicts.

Having a large group of people under the umbrella of one government isn't always a recipe for "better relations."

What I meant was the all of Europe would become one country, All of Asia would become a country, The North and south Americas, surronding islands would become one country. So it being that way meant the those small governments who aren't used to running on their own(like Afghan), would then have Governments that have been around alot longer running them. At that point Relations between these few super-powers Might(important word) be better than hundreds of small nations with unstable new governments running them.
