NASA may have accidentally created a warp field?

If the discovery was made NASA then where the links to the article from NASA itself? Why so many second and third party websites?

Because nobody knows wether this is an actual discovery.

They have measured an interference pattern that seems to imply a space-time contraction, among other possibilities.
However, the specific type of interference pattern does seem to match predictions made by current "warp-field theory", which is why it is being talked about at all.

In order to confirm the cause, the experiment has to be repeated, specifically in a vacuum.

NASA won't make an announcement of this magnitude until they are absolutely certain they hit paydirt.

Maybe it's time to add a pseudoscience subforum under sci/tech.

I'm surprised this hasn't even been done. I'm all for something like this.

I personally think we need something like this, where members can freely talk about UFOs, unproven science, controversy, and the like.

Not in my and { Emilia }'s forum, as only proper science can be discussed here. Also, that kind of sub-forum would make our heads explode. There is no need for a sub-forum for these kinds of topics as they can be discussed in the Miscellaneous forum. Wander over and have at it.

(With apologies to the Misc mods. I now owe you a bottle of moonshine.)

I really don't want humanity going out into outer space until they learn to end the problems and overcome their natural tendencies of xenophobia and tribalism.

I would think that we couldn't overcome those problems until we go out into deep space. The profound impact of seeing just how small our planet is might help with that. The "you know, all those peoples you hate. All those countries you are enemies of? They all live with you and your friends on that tiny blue ball."

Here is something promising:

"Test results indicate that the RF [radio frequency] resonant cavity thruster design, which is unique as an electric propulsion device, is producing a force that is not attributable to any classical electromagnetic phenomenon and, therefore, is potentially demonstrating an interaction with the quantum vacuum virtual plasma," the NASA team wrote in their study, which they presented Wednesday (July 30) at the 50th Joint Propulsion Conference in Cleveland. NASA, according to NASASpaceFlight.com, is quietly claiming to have successfully tested a revolutionary new means of space travel that could one day allow for such insane speed, and to have done it in a hard vacuum like that of outer space for the first time.

I know that. It's just that all these news sites use the same forum thread on nasaspaceflight.com as a source.
