Name That Star Trek Object

No, the object is not the Galileo 7 or any other shuttlecraft.

Clue # 1

This object is bigger than a breadbox - any alien whose breadbox was bigger than this object would be terrifying.

Clue number 2

The object was not shuttle sized. The size was not explictly stated, nor was it seen with another object for comparison, but its size was obviously different from that of a shttlecraft.

Not the Fesarius or the grain storage compartment.

Clue number three.

This object has a massive impact on many people's lives. But some who see it will not think that it has any weighty significance.

No it is not Kara's spacecraft from Spock's Brain.

Let me think....

Clue number four.

This object, as far as Spock knew, exhibted the "top" use of a particular technology..

Clue numbre five.

The idea for ths object might have come from Flash Gordon.

The Landru Computer with squiggly light tubes that thinks it is Landru (The Return of the Archons)?

No, the object is not Landru's computer, someone's diaper (whose?), or the obelisk.

I will try to think of another clue.

Here's another clue:

Clue Number Six.

Some viewrs might think this object is the high point of the episode it appears in.

The Doomsday Machine?
1. Bigger than a breadbox, and if the clue implies a big eater, than the DM meets that requirement, too.
2. Super big. The small Enterprise model was used near its mouth, the entire length was not in frame to estimate its size.
3. Matt Decker dies in it. Others might only see a lightweight windsock blowing in the breeze.
4. Neutronium hull and pure anti-proton beam weapon that blasts planets and recycles the debris for power to continue forever!
5. It's a big space death ray.
6. The episode is named after it, so, it should be important to the plot when it shows up.

Good logic, but it is not the Doomsday Machine.

Maybe my clues aren't specific enough. I will have to think about my next clue.

I'm back.

Clue number severn:

That planet had a problem with a stratified society.

The Stratos City!.....?

Yes.

Clue # 1

This object is bigger than a breadbox - any alien whose breadbox was bigger than this object would be terrifying.

It was described as a city, not a tiny village, and so shouuld have been large enough for a city sized population.

Clue number 2

The object was not shuttle sized. The size was not explictly stated, nor was it seen with another object for comparison, but its sie was obviously different from that of a shttlecraft.

Obviously a community for human sized people which held a city sized population would be larger than a shuttlecraft.

Clue number three.

This object has a massive impact on many people's lives. But some who see it will not think that it has any weighty significance.

Stratos was was a literally massive structure. And it also had a figuratively massive impact on the people who lived there, the people who wanted to live there, and the people who considered themselves oppressed by the people who lived there. People who saw Stratos floating in the clouds might assume it was very light, despite its great size.

Clue number four.

This object, as far as Spock knew, exhibted the "top" use of a particular technology..

As Spock said:

SPOCK: Remarkable. The finest example of sustained antigravity elevation I've ever seen.

And apparently there were no structures on the planet at any greater altitudes.

Clue numbre five.

The idea for ths object might have come from Flash Gordon

The floating city of the Hawkmen in various versions of Flash Gordon.

Clue Number Six.

Some viewrs might think this object is the high point of the episode it appears in.

The Cloud City of Stratos had the highest elevation of any site in the episode, except for a few scenes on the Enterprise orbiting far above the planet. And some viewers found the floating city to be be best part of the episode.

Clue number severn:

That planet had a problem with a stratified society.

Ardana did have a stratified society. And that was also a pun on the name of Stratos.

My next clue might have been to say that the object in question might have been inspired by works of James Blish.

So it is Methuselah Fint's turn.
