Game Name That Star Trek CHARACTER

I think it is Salish. He fits all the clues, and so well that I don't even need to explain it.
@Steven P Bastien You are correct. And you are up to bat.

Clue 1: Ignorance can cost you. It certainly cost me.
Salish did not know how to revive a boy that drowned. Also, his father failed to pass on "the secret of the temple." So Kirk becomes Medicine Chief.

Clue 2: Of course, Dad's partly to blame.
The Elder said Salish's father held on to power too long.

Clue 3: It was only after the event that cost me so much that I was made to realize just how much.
Because Salish lost the Medicine Chief gig, he lost Miramanee as well.

Clue 4: About that event: Boy, was it a convenient accident.
The boy drowning so Kirk could revive him couldn't be better timed if it were planned.

Clue 5: 'What' I lost to my rival, my rival ends up losing.
Kirk loses Miramanee in the end.

Clue 6: Another spoke of my Dad but I never did. And my rival never met him.
The Elder told Kirk about Salish's father.

Clue 7: Regarding my rival's loss mentioned in Clue 5, I had a hand in that. But I didn't act alone.
Miramanee was stoned by Salish and the villagers.

Clue #1 Unhappy with my career path, I finally "followed my heart". My new venture was going as planned, until another followed it too.

Crazy Janice Lester? (Eventually, one of the crazies will be the answer.)
1. Unhappy as a scientist and woman, she decides to change careers to become a starship captain and a man. "What a good plan until that incompetent and loser Coleman failed me."

Henoch, you have good intuition, but it's not Janice.

Clue #2 It has been said, "absence make the heart grow fonder", but my absence had other consequences.

Phase Two, you constructed a perfect answer, tested it, proved it. Proved it. Proved it? ...
... Alas, it has proved to be incorrect.

Clue #4 I wish another "Heart of Stone" would stop beating.

Methuselah Flint, ... are you correct? ... I don't believe I want to tell you. ... No, ... I don't think I will ... sir.

Clue #5 After we had our "heart to heart", which came to blows, as it usually does with that guy, I realized that one beating led to another beating.

Ah. Great clues either way, but . . . Finney. With Commodore Stone puns and enough bons mots de coeur to calm the most restless heart!

Crap, I missed out on a "crazy"...

I'm hoping this next clue is for another "crazy": Garth of Izar, a former Starship fleet Captain and now running the asylum.
1. Spock labelled him as "incurably insane" and thus, he can't be held responsible for his terrorist actions during the episode. At the end, he has no memories of his terrorist actions, so, by definition, he's not a terrorist in his own mind.

Lord Garth doesn't seem to be on the guest list. (But nice logic!)

1. Thankfully, contrary to what it says on the label, I'm no terrorist.
2. When my companion is detained, I sit things out.

Methuselah Flint, you can only guess. Now you will let me do my job?

1. Thankfully, contrary to what it says on the label, I'm no terrorist.
2. When my companion is detained, I sit things out.
3. There sure is lot of mystery about me, on screen and off.

@Phaser Two
ISIS
1. Thankfully, contrary to what it says on the label, I'm no terrorist.

Most definitely not the Islamic State.
2. When my companion is detained, I sit things out.
She is AWOL during the period where Roberta has Seven under the Servo's aim.
3. There sure is lot of mystery about me, on screen and off.
Who and what she is is never revealed in the episode. And for many decades, the identity of the actress was unknown/mistaken.
