Game Name That Star Trek CHARACTER

1. An absolute boatload of people witness my decisive action.

He flies into the sun for all to see. The entire bridge crew, and likely the rest of the ship monitor the situation.

2. It is completely unclear where I got the idea that my performance art would be successful.

Travelling straight into the sun? Not the wisest plan. Surely a big gamble. We don't know how he discovered the answer. Also, therein, is gambling an art form, and thus the act of gambling is a performance of said art?

3. Well, successful only to a point - in all the excitement I kind of forgot to, well, self-preserve.

He proclaims his freedom but in all the excitement fails to navigate away from the sun.

4. My actions, in a manner of speaking, somewhat blind everyone to the real solution.

His actions - that of madness, blind everyone to the real solution - that extreme light kills the alien parasites.

5. It's not clear what I really look like.

Voice only, off screen.

6. I provide a rare case where the ultimate solution to the episode's problem is featured - for all to see - in its first sequence.

Yes, we see the answer to the problem straight away as the Denevan drives into the sun. That extreme light kills the things.

7. Clues 4, 5, and 6 contain subclues.

4) The creatures are self - preserving through the Denevans, and this particular one. Also, the Denevan is attempting to self-preserve by flying into the sun, to destroy the parasite.
5) We do not know what the creature looks like as a whole, or indeed what the Denevan looks like now he is free. Nor what he internally looks like with the parasite.
6) Everyone witnesses the solution, unblinded. Blindness is not necessary to kill the parasites.

8. It is not known who portrayed me.

Uncredited perhaps?

9. If only I could have just explained everything to the gallant crew . . . er, but then, no episode. You see?

If only he could have told the Enterprise his discovery! But alas, then no episode!

EXACTLY!!!!!!! (I don't have a picture of the poor chap to emphasize the victory.) Great job, Methuselah Flint!!! :techman::bolian: Yes, the subclues all had to do with sightedness. ("You see?") :D The choice of character was inspired by a thread showing that there were no fewer than 16 people on the bridge for the sequence, as set forth in cunning fashion in the first clue.

You have the conn!

Great thanks! It came to me in a flash, so to speak :D

I guess I could add to Subclue 4, that his actions physically blind him to the solution, since he cannot see his victory, once he is in the sun, whilst figuratively everyone else is blinded by his 'mad' actions.

I sounds like one the many gangsters; I pick Kalo who played fizz-bin with Kirk.

Clue # 7
Myself, and at least one other, are only seen in one room. Perhaps that is where we stay during this whole 'episode'.

Landru fits quite a few clues, but in this case, this guess is not of the body!

Clue # 9
There is more to my statement than meets the ear, so to speak, but the visitors do not pick up on this with any immediacy.
