You're a little weak for some reason.
Khan
Kirk's duplicate in Enemy Within?

Correct, ItsGreen! Good job! The answer is Redjac or of course Hengist.
1. You explained a good take on it, plus also he/it just gets bolder as the episode goes on, not only killing Kara and blaming a Starfleet officer for it, but then killing another Starfleet officer and the wife of the chief official of the planet he's holed up on.
2. Uses a different knife to kill Sybo than the first knife, apparently, although the later dialogue in the briefing room doesn't acknowledge this.
3. It's not really surprising that Earth, Mars, and Achernar (Alpha Eridani) are "aligned directly between Argelius and Earth," especially as far as Earth and Mars go. Achernar is about 140 LY away from Earth, so unless Spock is looking at the additional examples that the computer notes but doesn't cite, we can't really be sure how much the fact that Achernar is aligned directly between Earth and Argelius proves. (Mars proves even less, and Earth is, well, Earth.) But who cares? To me, just about every line in the briefing room scene is gold.
4. As I said, maybe he/it shouldn't have killed Lt. Tracy. Of course, he was already framing Scotty, and he might have been worried what she - and Sybo - would have discovered.
5. The sealing of the room at Jaris's house - nice idea by Kirk the tactician - doesn't seem to deter ol' Redjac. But it does help Kirk and Spock unravel the mystery.
Nice job, ItsGreen! You have the conn.![]()
Ah ha! I thought of Redjac after Clue 3 with the list of planets (not many episodes describe lists), but I thought there was only one knife in the episode, so I didnt guess!
COMPUTER: Working. 1932. Shanghai, China, Earth. Seven women knifed to death. 1974, Kiev, USSR, Earth. Five women knifed to death. 2105. Martian colonies. Eight women knifed to death. 2156. Heliopolis, Alpha Eridani Two. Ten women knifed to death. There are additional examples.
SPOCK: Captain, those places are aligned directly between Argelius and Earth.
KIRK: Yes. When man moved out into the galaxy, that thing must've moved with him. Computer, identify the proper names Kesla and Beratis.
COMPUTER: Working. Kesla. Name given to unidentified mass murderer of women on planet Deneb Two. Beratis. Name given to unidentified mass murderer of women on planet Rigel Four. Additional data. Murders on Rigel Four occurred one solar year ago.
Deneb is much farther from Earth than Rigel, so, as interstellar became easier, Redjac broke his outward path and started to roam the cosmos.Obviously what the writers and creators needed to do was to find several stars that were nearly lined up as seen from Earth, find out how distant each one was, and then mention them in order of increasing distance from Earth.
