This sounds like a very dead Red shirt come back to life...the more destructive, the harder to come back, so, I'm voting for Lieutenant Galloway who gets disintegrated in the Omega Glory, then back to duty in the Turnabout Intruder. I guess they regrew him from some leftover smear sample over the year he was off duty.

Oops, my confusion. The character is Lieutenant Johnson.
1. MCCOY: Orderly. Jim. Johnson's heart wound is almost healed. Same with the other casualties. Sword wounds in the vital organs, massive trauma, shock. They're all healing at a fantastic rate.
2. KIRK: Apparently you have a few things to learn about us. Detain them in the crew lounge. Programme the food synthesiser to accommodate our guests. You'll be well-treated, Kang.
I guess Johnson was upset that the Klingons were going to get free soup in the crew lounge while he had to pay for it out of his rations, or something to that effect.

[Memory Alpha says they were supposed to change the character's name to "Galloway" in the script after David Ross was cast in the role, but alas, someone dropped the ball. Then again, it still doesn't explain his resurrection from death in the Omega Glory, so, maybe Johnson was more appropriate. In Turnabout Intruder, the script used Galloway, but he was never referred to by name in the episode, he was just "Lieutenant", so, he could have been Johnson again in that episode, too.]
