Name that Game

Nay. Hint: This was a game released around the launch wave / second wave of PlayStation games.

To narrow down the genre, am I completely mistaken in thinking that it looks like a Mech-related game?

Is it space griffon?
Don't think so, but with ppl talking about PSX fps mech games that's kinnda all I can think of

Vaguely, yes.

The game's pretty goddamn awful, and it had a slightly less awful sequel. If no one gets it by the end of today, I'll reveal the title.

Here's another screenshot:

It also can't be Tunnel B1, because you said "the game's pretty goddamn awful" ;)

I've clearly stumped everyone, so I'll just get it over with and identify the game as Kileak: The DNA Imperative (also known as Kileak: The Blood in Europe), a truly awful first-person shooter released in the launch wave of titles for the original PlayStation.

Ugh.

^ Wow. I've never heard of that one, and I was a pretty well-informed early adopter with the PSX.

Well, I guess that leaves the field open to the next entrant with a screenshot. :)

Looks, PS1, so that's too early for sphynx. Uh, the Mummy? It actually looks fairly familiar but I guess I'll have to wait for someone a bit brighter to come along.

Hint 1: The screenshot doesn't show the (maybe more recognizable) main protagonist. (You get to control his sidekick in some levels.)

Hint 2: The game is a platformer with a fixed "2D" camera and a 3D engine.
