Name That Episode, DS9 Edition...

That's a good guess based on clue 3, but no.

This clue is more specific to a few episodes than the others.

Clue 4) A method of detection that never works again.

Not in a literal sense though usually. :)

Clue 6: Clue 1 refers to a feature of one of the main characters. Clue 5 refers to somebody literally being a different person than they claim to be.

Sorry, no.

Clue 7) Clue 2 is about something that had never happened before in all of history, and that later has major consequences for one character.

No more guesses?

Recap of clues.
1) *After* this episode something disappears forever.
--6) That is a feature of a main character.
2) Something that has never happened before.
--7) In all of history, and it later has major consequences for a main character.
3) Something never happened.
4) A method of detection that never works again.
5) Somebody is not who they appear.
--6) Not metaphorically, not the "kind" of person they appear, they are literally a different person than they appear to be.

Clue 8) The thing that never happened is a political event. And the method of detection never works again because every future attempt is faked.

By Inferno’s Light?

The method of detection that never worked again—blood screenings?

The invasion of Bajoran space never happened—the Dominion fleet was expecting the changeling Bashir to blow up the sun.

The Bashir changeling is not Bashir.

The episode after this one is Dr. Bashir, I Presume? where Bashir is outed as a genetic augment.

Thank you.

My first clue:

Something that happened to another recurrent character in another series and is rather exceptional even in the strange world of StarTrek.
