Myriad Universes: Shattered Light - The Cover

Heh, that is scary... Of course, I practically predicted Voyager the year before it even came on, so not too impressed...

HONOR IN THE NIGHT. Former Federation president Nilz Baris has died. After losing Sherman’s Planet to the Klingons thanks to poisoned quadrotriticale, the agriculture undersecretary parlayed that defeat into years of political battles with the Klingon Empire, and eventually the Federation’s highest office. Now, the Federation News Service wants the story of his life, a quest that digs up many secrets—including the mystery of why his final words were “Arne Darvin.”

Holy shit!

That's pretty funny. :)

Indeed it was! I was very amused that you had nailed it.

So is that an Old Baris as you're avatar?

Yes. One weekend I had way too much free time, and in a fit of geekiness I created a shot of a retired Baris in Paris (an unfortunate rhyme), circa 2363 . . . with all due respect to the original copyright holders of the three images I blended together. ;) He looks pretty good for 140 years old.

Preordered SL today via iBooks. The excerpt sounded pretty cool...

Is there any evidence that when someone is assimilated, like Picard was, their personality is fully alert and aware within the drone? In the excerpt, no matter what Locutus did, Picard was still aware of everything that happened. Or is this a special case because Locutus was no ordinary drone? Also, the excerpt implied that the Borg could not simply tear the information they wanted directly from Picard's mind. But in TNG, it's implied that this is exactly what happened, because the Borg instantly knew everything Picard knew after they assimilated him.

Also, the 'standup comedy' was actually kind of funny. :p

If you click on this link, it'll take you to the Shattered Light page in the Gallery Books catalog, which has the final cover for the book. This should give you an idea of what to expect in this fine tome.

Yes, the book's real and on schedule. It took a while, but it'll be out just in time for Festivus!

What is the link for Pocket Books Digital Gallery?

Jon, the link within Michael's post is to the Simon & Schuster digital catalog . . . is the Pocket Books Digital Gallery something other than that? And this trade paperback is published by the Gallery imprint, not Pocket Books. Weird, I know. For years we've grown accustomed to Pocket Books for the Trek line . . .

Well, I'm looking for the digital gallery that has other Trek books in it to get good cover images. I want them to put into the eBook now that S&S has decided to screw us over on the covers.

Are the cover images you can find on book websites not good enough? I've been grabbing them off Amazon and B&N to fix the ebooks I've cracked.

Does it have be off of one of the store sites? If not here it is on Memory Beta.

Thanks for that. Memory beta does have some nice size covers. I'll be looking there for new covers for sure. I'll have to check my covers for Seize the Fire and Zero Sum Game and see if I need to replace them again.
