I don't think you understand pandering.

This could go in a more philosophical direction:

Is pandering good? Or bad?
Is it acceptable? Or sometimes acceptable? Are there exceptions?

Is it necessary? How large of an audience does pandering bring?

Nana Visitor really enjoyed getting to play mirror Kira. Marina Sirtis "put up with" wearing catsuits. And Sirtis, Jolene Blalock, Jeri Ryan, Nana Visitor, Jennifer Lien, et al had to work extremely hard(and keep an unhealthy diet) to maintain the right figure to wear the catsuit.
