My Star Trek includes...

My Star Trek includes...

- Starship captains that can make decisions on the spot and under pressure.

But wonder if they're doing the right thing and then get pep talks from their doctor.

- Women that are attractive and sexy AND professional...and aren't rubbing everyone else down at every chance.

Can't they be sexy, professional and give rubdowns? Like that one Yeoman in TOS?

- Vulcans that don't lose their consistency when plot demands it.

Plots involving spores, mating urges, time travel and alien possesion excluded.

- Starships that don't have exploding consoles every fifteen minutes.

Once an episode is fine.

- Engineers that don't waste the Captain's time explaining how he's going to do what the Captain wants, he just does it.

Nah he waits for the XO or the CO to come with the idea and then says " Aye, I guess that could work".

Agreed!

My Star Trek would never get lost 70,000+ light years from home and not settle down somewhere.

My Star Trek a would never have a retarded "Caretaker" in it.

My Star Trek wouldn't have the helmsman defy the warp 10 barrier, turn into a wizard, and mate with the Captain.
Not a Voyager fan, eh?

-A captain that fills his... sentences... with lots of... pauses.
-Episodes set in Vulcan or involving lots of Vulcans, but whose plot is not Vulcans fighting with their feelings.
-Story arcs.
-Non-humanoid inteligent lifeforms.

Lots of Orion slave girls

For real.

^^ I'm getting fucking sick of this.

I'm sick of being told that unless I say something complimentary about something I don't agree with then I should shut up.

Moderator, close the goddamned thread and give me the warning if you want. I'm fed up with this crap.

Those who believe in kissing Berman's golden ass can kiss mine.

:censored:

:wtf: I didn't see anyone say that. Just the suggestion that its possible to celebrate TOS without pissing on TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT.

To be honest, I don't know what your problem is. I certainly didn't tell you to say something complimentary about something you don't like. I just questioned your way of celebrating TOS by bitching about the other series.

And I certainly didn't tell you to "shut up" as this would never be my choice of words.

Those who believe in kissing Berman's golden ass can kiss mine.
You really do believe that, don't you? That everyone who likes the newer Trek series is "kissing Berman's ass". Sheesh, you're strange.

For the record "My Star Trek" includes everything from "Check the circuit" to "Computer, end program" and most likely the next chapter yet to be seen.

Nobody is kissing anyone's ass if they happen to enjoy all things Trek.

I feel sorry for those who would deny that joy to others because of such a narrow view of the Trek universe.

Fine. You want have to tolerate me anymore.

Just stay out of my own Arts threads and you can be ecstatic till doomsday not having to hear my opinions. I've stayed out of most of the other forums. Now I'll be staying out of this one as well.

Dude. Chill out. I actually really enjoy your art threads and have told you so many times.

You really should take a look at your behaviour.. Especially in the Art forum where you're currently giving someone a lot of shit over a really nice rendering of the version of the Enterprise shown in the new movie trailer. It's not fair to insult the guy for wanting to show off his efforts, anymore than it would be fair for people to insult yours. the only difference is that he seems to be doing it for his enjoyment and not to push some thinly veiled agenda on people who have a different opinion.

Insulting people for liking something that you obviously don't doesn't make you deserving of anyone's tolerance. You reap what you sow.

Go or stay if you want. No one is suggesting you do otherwise, unless you choose to continue to insult people, in which case you know where the door is.

I hope I'm on the "insightful, dead-on accurate" side of the spectrum. :D

They started it.
"They" consists of those "creative forces" behind modern Trek.
What did they start? The dilution of the Star Trek name.
Bad enough that Star Trek no longer strictly means a pretty good tv series in the 1960s, but now means "that silly crap on UPN."
But then you have people trying to reinterpret the obvious intent of the artists who gave us Star Trek in order to reconcile it with the errors made by modern Trek.
It's impossible to have a "What is my Trek" thread without talking about the later series.
Which is why I think threads like these are a bad idea.
Star Trek stands on its own.
For my money, everything that came later, good or bad, is simply something else.
