My mother was diagnosed with cancer. :-(

I am bringing up this thread again because I wanted to share some news.

First of all, I am going to see my mother the day after tomorrow for the first time since all of this begun! I am very happy for this!

She had her first two chemo-sessions. She feels much better because the fluid in her abdomen is much less and she is not in much pain. She has her ups and downs of course and she is still very self-conscious about her hair that are already almost gone but the important thing is that chemo seems to work for her.

Her doctor is also very satisfied with the results so far because, as he told us, some times chemo does not help at first and they have to try out different chemicals, but in our case, they seem to have gotten it right from the beginning.

^That is great news! I hope she continues to improve. Does she like hats and scarves? This could be the perfect excuse to go on a millinery shopping spree!

I'm glad things are going well, Naira. I hope your mom continues to improve.

Did anyone ever check into insurance coverage for wigs? I know the company that I work for does cover them.

Hmm. If I converted that right it's only about half of what we offer. But at least it's something.

Hello everyone!

I am resurrecting this thread from the dead because I have news and I wanted to share them.

My mother had her first "big round" of exams since she started her chemotherapy almost 6 months ago. The results came back today and everything looks very good! :D

Of course, her doctor will give her a more thorough/complete reply in a couple of days after he sees all results together, but I am very happy right now, I hope everything will go OK!
