My Kirk sculpt so far...

Hey guys. Well this has DEFINITELY been a hard likeness to figure out, and I don't know if I'm even remotely close yet, but I figured I'd show where I'm at right now:

(still a work in progress)

Incredibly good likeness. Guessing, but it looks like Kirk from second season (Doomsday Machine), a little more seasoned.

I am very impressed. This really captures the dynamism of the young James T. Kirk. I might take another look at the hair, but the expression is just superb.

I really like the mouth and the nose, but there is something wrong with the eyes. I'm not sure what it is. Are they set back too far, or maybe are they a hair too wide?

I do really like the expression you are going for with the eyes. I loved the Kirk stare. I also like the hooded look you are going for with the eyes. It shows Kirk's intensity.

Overall, for a work in progress, it's an excellent start. Nice work. I can almost see the tape line on the front edge of his hairpiece. :p

That does look great. I really like the angle of the first pic. It is a dead ringer for Kirk.

Pretty sure this is the same guy.

Looks like a bit leaner Kirk than he usually was but a very good likeness. The "idealized" Kirk, one might say.

Fantastic work here. I wouldn't change a thing. I took a look at the sculpts being offered by professionals in the field and yours just blows them away. I think you showed a picture of your Spock in comparison to the sculpt available in comic book stores and yours was, hands down, the better Spock.Looks like your Kirk will do the same.

Thanks guys.

Close. Most of the pics I got from either Amok Time or A Taste of Armageddon (thanks Trekcore). :D

I also originally wanted to put him in the green wraparound tunic (just because I've always liked it) but I figure if he's going to be sitting between Spock and McCoy he would look better in the standard gold.

1000 times better than what I'm capable of, but that being said, something still doesn't feel right. Either it's too tall in the forehead/hair or not wide enough laterally. Someone want to squash & stretch the pics a touch to see if I'm right?

Yeah I still have to play around with the hair a bit. I kind of took the high bangs from one episode and combined it with the tightly combed sides of another episode, and they probably don't go together that well.

Excellent work, as with your Spock. But I think the last picture looks a little bit more like Patrick Swayze. I don't know if it's the mouth or the jaw line. It still looks incredible though. Also, would you be able to rib the collar, or would that not mesh with the look of the sculpture?

I still think you should do this professionally.

That is awesome!

I do however think that the brow is a little heavy (or the eyes are a little too sunken), and the bags under the eyes are a too large. Then again, he is a busy man!
