My house burned down last night

I'm in an apartment, my ex is living there. She got out along with the dogs. The cats are missing. Entire house is gone, fire department had to bring in machinery to collapse it to finish putting the fire out.

All my childhood/university belongings were in storage there, so are now gone.

Second fire in about 5 years (previous one was an electrical fire confined to the geothermal unit due to flooding) so doubt insurance will be in a hurry to pay out.

Not sure how this will affect the divorce proceedings.

Red Cross sent someone to deal with my ex as she has major disabilities and all her equipment was in the house. Her mom is with her. I'm stuck alone, no one around.

DUDE, that's awful!! I'm so sorry. I hope you can find some assistance for yourself--both Red Cross and Salvation Army have assistance programs. If the Red Cross is helping your ex, ask them about what help you might be able to get. I think Salvation Army has financial grants you can apply for.

I know nothing can replace the loss of your cats, though. That's just terrible. I'm very sorry for all the losses you have suffered.

there is help out there when things like this happen --- so sorry you are experiencing this ... it will get better it is a very low time .. things can change for the better --- it will take time- try relaxing with what you have-
