My Grievances of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

Yes, the cat would have been marking its territory on an inanimate object, much like my cats mark their territory on their scratching post or any other piece of furniture they're fond of.

Right now my older cat is rubbing her head on the sweater I'm wearing, but I think she's hungry...

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

It is not the cat's fault! Cats need to be socialized and this poor cat has spent its life locked in a room on a starship all by itself!

It's cruel. Don't let androids raise a cat. YOU might consider an android a life form but a cat never will.

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

Yet somehow Spot was able to escape from Data's quarters on occasion and mate with other cats. Either Data doesn't lock his doors, or the cat is smarter than he/she's letting on. Something's sinister there!

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

I wish it had been considered normal, required even, for every Enterprise crew member to have a cat and the whole freaking ship was FULL OF CATS.

I'd like to see some cats lounging about on the bridge, strolling down the corridors..

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

I would have liked to see the fake script that Moore/Braga/Shankar wrote specifically to prank Spiner and his hatred of cats. The one where Data puts a device on Spot's leash and suddenly it speaks "Hello, Geordi" at the end of the teaser. Something about that just sounds unsettling.

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

Serious question: Why was nuChekov wearing those silly goggles? Were they to protect his eyes from something? Were they to help him see something better?
They looked like welding goggles to me. Chekov was conducting hasty repairs to the warp core coolant systems at the time.

23rd Century Alternate Universe should have had energy force field eye protection by then.

FAIL!

His repair teams are working away behind him in those scenes and yeah, sparks and smoke are being given off by powerful tools being used to repair the workings in the engineering section.

Could have been worse, could have been those massive gloves in TWoK that prevent any actual finger mobility.

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

The goggles were to make it clear to audiences that they were in an engine room, and not some weird room with a giant margarita blender. Kind of like why they have glass cells instead of force fields, because audiences might go "why can't he just run out?"

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

The goggles were lame.
Unless they were a plan to make Chekov less of a genius more like his TOS counterpart.

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

Does Spiner really hate cats?
I think it was more that, as an actor, he disliked working opposite a cat.

"Vhat? You mean I am NOT genius?"

Re: My Greivences of Nutrek. What makes me a hater...

Oh yeah, because sensible eye-protection is lame.

Seriously, are people that desperate to find things to dislike?

Jesus Fucking Christ. I ASKED A QUESTION. I asked somebody to explain an aspect of the movie I didn't understand. Someone was kind enough to do that.

The rest of you can quit trolling, okay?

Maurice's post was pretty clearly a response to CommishSleer's*, which had been quoted in the post immediately preceding his; he wasn't even talking to you, so relax. And leave off accusing people of trolling you, while you're at it - that's become very boring with frequent repetition, and may itself be considered trolling.

* I think she mostly liked the movie anyway, but I could be mistaken about that.
