My birthday kinda sucks

Normally I don't really care much about doing anything huge for my birthday. Just a nice relaxing day with some ice cream cake but this year has just been so infuriating.

My husband and I just closed on our first house this past friday and we have to get everything painted and moved as fast as possible and all on our own because on the 24th we have to head to Chicago for his sisters wedding.

This stupid wedding has become the major focal point of everyone's lives. Hell, yesterday my MIL called me and left a message "Hey um early Happy Birthday but could you have my son call me about his tux measurements for the wedding."

And because of the wedding being the most important thing of the decade no one has the time to help us, or even show a modicum of empathy that we may have more important shit to do than show up to a rehearsal dinner we have no reason to be at (long story short my husband is just an usher and the bride decided that it should be held on Thursday instead of Friday so she can get her beauty sleep. I really wish I was kidding).

So on top of being ignored or pushed to the side because we're not the ones with a wedding I get to face another exhausting night of painting a bathroom and moving huge boxes because damn it we should be just as pleased as punch to take some of our vacation and instead of using it on our house devote it to that most holy of weddings.

I'm in a misery loves company mood. Anyone else had a craptacular birthday recently?

Why do I have the song Sixteen Candles going through my head? Happy birthday blablover5. It could be worse. I have spent most of my birthdays the last dozen years completely alone. Or it could be much worse. You could not have had a birthday at all this year(i.e. you could be dead).

Happy B-day blab!

Focus on the new house...a wedding is over in a day, but that house is yours for a lo-o-ong time!

Well, this year my family Birthday party had to be delayed two or three weeks because my Sister had to get her hair cut, my Nephew had a ball game, my Mother wanted to go look at a house, and basically everybody had something better to do. Shows you how important I am. :rommie:

Happy Birthday, blab.

Sorry to hear about all the stress. I would help out if I was there. Hopefully, everything will sort itself out. You could always call in sick for the wedding. ;)

Happy Birthday Blablover. I feel for you ~ I love celebrating birthdays, mine or others. And they are special days especially with the new house.
Try not to take it with you to the wedding though, rise above it and just keep an enigmatic smile on your face ~ when asked you can just say 'oh I was just dreaming about my house :)

My worst birthday ~ 21st! My boyfriend at the time got arrested for drink driving on the way to my party with me in the car. I had to walk in a v posh dress carrying my cake to the venue. After losing myself in vodka martinis he was released at 9ish and we apparently got engaged. It lasted a year

Worst B-day ever..my 19th..spent in Guam, alone in VAQ at Anderson AFB..a cupcake with a candle in it..drowning my sorrows with vodka..getting the dry heaves after eating the cupcake (with candle still in it..so I really can't blame the cupcake) and generally having a pathetic time all around..

Worst B-day ever my 16th. I get the gift from my parents to get the driver license. And i didn't passed the test. and i get the driver license at 17th. :(

Awww, puppy is cute! :) I like birthdays but as I've gotten older, I don't care for them as much..most of my friends are busy with their own lives and don't give a hoot about little ole me. :( Oh well. Life's a bitch then you die I guess.

Puppy is now 103 lbs. as of today's vet visit.

I think birthdays are better as you get older. It's more and more of an accomplishment to reach each successive year.

Any year you aren't looking up at the ground is a good one.
