To be honest, I'd rather more Spock/Uhura than some random alien babe getting Kirk'd - and I can't see them doing two love plots in the same film.

If ST XII becomes Kirk's story like ST XI was Spock's story, it could work. The Spock/Uhura romance isn't the defining factor and can easily be worked in with Kirk's romance.
