MSNBC’s Anticipated Movies of 2008, Trek is #3 (In Voting)

Don’t know if this has been posted yet or not (don’t see it anywhere), so I’ll put it up here. MSNBC has an article and poll for the most anticipated movies of 08. While JJ’s Trek was not in the article, it’s currently 3rd in voting (Batman and Indiana Jones are leading). Wow for some reason I just had a summer of 1989 flashback with the original Batman, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Star Trek 5 all being out (man I’m getting old). Let’s hope the new Trek does better than it’s predecessor (luckily it won’t be going head to head with the big summer movies).

Here’s the Link

Voted! :D But to be honest, Wall-E and Iron Man probably score equally for me with Star Trek. And Burn After Reading and Hancock both sound fun.

Ah, ballot stuffing. The greatest pastime of any sci-fi fan.

Voted. ;)

Sorry Trekkies, but given the options, I voted for Burn After Reading. Yeah yeah, go stake me or something. :p

I’m no comic book fan, yet find myself intrigued by this sequel of the 2004 film. Not so much because I care what happens to the red-horned creature — although Ron Perlman seems to offer just the right attitude in fighting off otherworldly dastardly creatures — but I’m now a disciple in the church of Guillermo del Toro. His inspired “Pan’s Labyrinth” was such a filmmaking revelation that I’ll be first in line to watch anything he feels passionate enough about to direct.

It's clear he used telepathy to rifle my thoughts out of my brain. That's so exactly my viewpoint it's honestly scary. :vulcan:

Star Trek in #2 now. I'd say, if the movie beats "The Dark Knight" at the box office too, it'll be a success. ;)

Tied with Indiana Jones for #1 now!

Re: MSNBC’s Anticipated Movies of 2008, Trek is #3 (In Votin

This of course is number 1 for me in 2008, Indy being a close second.

While I'm glad to hear a lot of people are anticipating the film, this poll is about as scientific as all those which declared Serenity to be the best film of 2005. ;)

Star Trek is in the leading position!

Well, they never said "most successful." ;)

Star Trek #1 in polling..by 1%...people we can do better than that..vote early..vote often..

I don't see a place on that page where I can vote - just a list of the five allegedly most-anticipated movies. And I don't see Trek listed anywhere.

Did the poll close before I had a chance to vote, perhaps?

Re: MSNBC’s Anticipated Movies of 2008, Trek is #3 (In

Voted. Trek is in the lead with 23% over Indy's 22%.

TT: scroll down to the bottom of the page.

I imagine there's no mention of Trek in the article because there're no decent pictures to publish yet.

Sorry guys, I had to vote for Quantum of Solace. The Dark Knight would be #2, after that Star Trek. ;)

Ah, I know what the problem is - it's a browser issue. For some reason Firefox isn't rendering the table - I had to open the page in IE to see it. Strange, since it looks like run-of-the-mill Javascript and ASP.

Thanks. :)

That's as good a reason as any.

"Sex and the City: The Movie" actually has 4% of the vote? :wtf: :guffaw:

I think "Quantum of Solace" would have done better if it was labeled "James Bond: Quantum of Solace". Sure, many Bond fans and film fans in general knew what Quantum of Solace was, but many average movie-goers (probably the bulk of the voters) do not know that "Quantum" is the next Bond flick.

...and I voted for Star Trek, so it sounds like your vote negated mine  ;)

^ Yeah, I definitely agree with that. Most people have no idea what QoS is.
