Mr. Homn

Captain McBain

Commander Riker struggled to carry Mr. Homn's case. Would Worf have had difficulty, or could he have carried it without obvious problems?

Are you talking about Haven?

If so, it was Picard who struggled with Lwaxana's suitcase.

I think Worf would've been OK, but we really never found out about Homn and why he was so strong and so immune to liquor.

Picard struggles to carry it in "Haven" while Mr. Homm seems to carry it easily. I'm not sure it's ever been established how much stronger than humans Klingons are supposed to be but it's never seemed implied it's that much greater. I suspect Worf would have struggled some too.

I somehow suspect Homn cheated and had some sort of antigrav device hidden in his hand...

I think it was in "Vengeance Factor" where Worf struggled with a jammed door, but Riker joining him made all the difference. It didn't look as if Riker gave a boost of 100% or less, but more as if Riker effortlessly contributed twice as much as Worf! Or then he was just very good at faking it.

Worf's physical strength was never really demonstrated or mentioned. What was mentioned (and often questioned) was his "warrior fierceness", which is quite a different thing. Worf often wrestled with fellow Klingons (typically using a bladed weapon for leverage), quite evenly. And Kirk wrestled with Kor evenly as well, and later fought Kang to a standstill with a strength-critical bladed weapon. On the average, it would seem that a trained Klingon is an even match to a trained human, no more.

OTOH, I have some difficulty imagining Mr Homn wrestling or swashbuckling.

Yeah, but aren't Vulcans said to have magnitudes of strength over Humans? Mr. Homn might be lanky but if his homeworld has a strong enough gravity or his species is built "just' right he could easily be pretty strong in an 1.0G environment.

Yes, Vulcans are considerably stronger than humans. And faster, too. Maybe Homn and the average Vulcan are about equivalent in strength.

In TSFS, Cmdr. Kruge seems to have the upperhand in the fight between he and Kirk. IIRC Kruge lifted Kirk off the ground without too much effort and flipped him around (a complete somersault in the air) when he caught Kirk's foot. Maybe Kruge was abnormally strong for a Klingon, who knows.

...or the planet being in the process of exploding played havoc with the gravity-well?
