Lt. Arex. If the makeup is as good as other aliens, he would look awesome.
Well, that's depressing...as well as the optimistic spirit I have come to expect. If any more Paramount Trek films ever get made, I doubt they will take place in the same universe as the Kelvinverse.

I see no reason to hope against more Kelvin universe projects. It has nothing to do with optimism. It has to do with Hollywood's penchant to continually reboot their movie franchises after certain periods of time.

Cool. That's fine. Hollywood genre movie history kinda proves otherwise, though.
The easiest solution is to transfer Chekov to another posting, mention it quickly, and put Jayleah at the navigator's station.
I'd recommend Jaylah, Galia, Gary Mitchell (humorous psychic powers use), or Janice Rand as possible replacements.
Star Trek Into Darkness did that long ago when they said Kirk didn't lose a single crewmember since taking command, invalidating IDW's adaptation of "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and other comics in the ST'09-STID timespan.Hopefully not Mitchell: I'd hate for them to overwrite the comics.
That particular comic should be overwritten..Hopefully not Mitchell: I'd hate for them to overwrite the comics.
I would just use Marcus or Jayla. Especially Marcus to build up her relationship with Kirk.

The new character doesn’t need to be at the helm. Anyway, Sulu is there. Chekov was navigation and weapons.Marcus is a great character but she's not going to be at the helm.
