Movies You Wish Had Gotten Sequels, That Never Did

Isn't that exactly the reason why Alex (the T-5000) is in Genisys? Supposedly, he is rampaging his way across the multiverse, trying to ensure Skynet's dominance in every timeline he sees.

As I recall, it was never actually established in the movie. BUT, I do remember reading an article with the writers of the movie, and they did state that the Doctor Who T-5000, which was the physical embodiment of Skynet and not just another Terminator, was indeed from an alternate timeline. I can't remember the line specifically, but Doctor Who T-5000 does say something like, "I've come a long way to find you..." He wasn't just talking about a leap though time, but also through dimensions. According to the article, anyway...

... but that would have just confused everyone even more.

A few more ideas of movies that should have gotten sequels:

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!
Flash Gordon (1980 movie)
Krull
Dune (a sequel that would fix all the problems of the first one)
Back to the Future Part III

Also, Superman Returns. I wish we would have had three or four Superman Returns sequels over the last decade, and *THAT* evolved into the DC Cinematic Universe.

Rumors are that it was planned that the villain would have been Brainiac, he would possess Jason and then Superman would kill him, him killing his previously-abandoned son sounds like shock value on top of shock value.
The biggest problem with SR, aside from the length, was Kate Bosworth was too young and unenergetic/unappealing as Lois (and Routh as Superman wasn't too charismatic either).

2010 should have gotten it’s sequels. 2061 was an ok enough story.

I found it mostly a huge bore, except for maybe a little bit here and there. It doesn't seem particularly film-worthy IMO.

Dune (a sequel that would fix all the problems of the first one)

The sequel, presumably, would have been Dune Messiah, but I'm not sure how that would fix any perceived problems of the first one.

Especially since Superman doesn't kill.

^ Guess it depends on the Superman...

I mean, anybody remember this?

In that universe, Superboy kills one person, and look at the result.

Lets see.

John Carter - Warlord of Mars

Tron - 3.0

Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

Oz The Great and Powerful

Chronicles of Narnia - Silver Chair or A Horse and His Boy

Dredd

G.I. Joe - Snake Eater

Here's movies that I wish had never gotten sequels, but did: Naked Gun.

I mean, we all love Leslie Nielsen of course. And the Naked Gun movies were funny, sort of. It's just that they totally missed the point of the character of Frank Drebin: He's supposed to be the ultimate straight man, doing his job in a professional manner but oblivious to the hilarity around him.

The movies just made Frank into a bumbling idiot - completely opposite of how he was in Police Squad!.

I don't deny that Superman Returns needed to be a better movie. Obviously, it did. I just like the idea of the modern films being connected to the earlier films.
