Movies you love but others hate.

I liked Hudson Hawk very well.

How about this one: The Mothman Prophecies. My wife and I even visited Point Pleasant, West Virginia this past summer.

Water World.

I am the only person alive I know that likes this movie.

Oh, oh, I know another one! Not me...my sister loves that flick, and everyone else hates it. Now, there's two of you. Hurray!

The Wind That Shakes The Barley is hated? Really? I didn't know that. I mean...I don't care either way, but I had no idea this was one of the loathed ones...such as Water World and Battlefield Earth - which is so terrible I kind of like hating it. :p

Good. Tell her to bring sandwiches and we'll have a Water World party.

Another one I like that nobody else seems to is Lost in Space (1998). My best friend and I both love the series, but for some weird reason, he considers the movie an insult to the show. I thought it was good. Not great, but a fun way to spend 2 hours.

Audiences don't hate Wind, near as I can tell, except for a handful who are virulently pro-English and/or anti-left reactionaries. It's the critics who hated Wind.

I didn't think Water World was bad at all. Granted, I haven't seen it since it came out, and in retrospect, many movies from the '90s that I liked at the time seem ridiculous now. Everything was all overblown and melodramatic. I may watch it on Netflix and see how it holds up.

As for me, I'll be brave and say Will Smith's Wild Wild West made me happy.

Sure it was only a fraction as good as it could have been (should have been?), but I still enjoyed it enough to see it twice in the theater. I may be the only person who can say that.

If I were a gambling man, I'd say "yes, you might be the only person who can say that." :p
Good thing you're not a gambling man then. Because I did the exactly same thing. Still think it's a fun movie.

I didn't know this movie wasn't much liked. My husband and I watched it again the other night and we both love it. The acting's superb, it features a pet rat (always a plus in my books) and the aliens aren't hostile, but friendly, and that's such a refreshing change.

Clearly you weren't watching the Special Edition. :D

Nope, I must have watched the non-Special Edition that LoveFilm sent me. Must get my hands on the Special Edition now...

Let's just say it alters the tone of the film a tad.

I hear you. Well, actually there are 3 of us. My dad loves the film too.
You provide the beer.

Jesus on ritalin, it's a party all right!

And I like Lost in Space...and I know it sucks. Maybe I only like it because 1998 was such an awesome year and I was constantly in a great mood.

I'm a guy in my 50s, so I dunno, but I really like Easy A. It's funny and well thought out.

Emma Stone has a big future in front of her, I'm pretty sure.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein - the Kenneth Branagh-directed version of the tale. It was crapped on by pretty much everyone, but while I wouldn't say I love it I liked it at the time and still do. :bolian:

I agree with this 100%. But I admit I loved it.

Even though I might find myself tarred and feathered, I have to throw in some totally crap 80's movies into the mix here. First off, I love "Date With An Angel". People HATE this movie but for some reason I love. Phoebe Cates is hysterically funny to me in this one. Next we have another supposed stinker, "Maid to Order" with Ally Sheedy. I had a boyfriend actually threaten to break up with me if I made him watch it again. I also really like "Gremlins: The New Batch" and its off beat brand of humor.

I liked Robin Hood. Yes, the one with Kevin Costner. Wonderful music, the sherif is amazing and watch it in german so Kevins crapy english doesn't bother me.

There, I said it.
