Movies you love but others hate.

My two are:

13th Warrior - This movie is way better then people think. I'm not a Antonio Banderas fan but I think he really works in this movie. I know there was a lot of trouble on the set and Michael Crichton had to step in and do reshoots. However this is my favorite Michael Crichton book and I love the movie.

The Abyss - I know there are fans of the movie out there, but it is often dismissed as Cameron's "bad" movie. I couldn't disagree more, I think this is actually his best movie. From story, to pacing, and performances everything works on multiple levels.

I enjoyed both of these too:)

The Abyss is by far my favorite James Cameron movie. Ed Harris' performance is nothing short of amazing.

I unabashedly adore The Three Amigos.

"Hey Mister, can I have your watch when you are dead?"

You're not the only one. I still love that film.
I might go as far as saying that there is a plethora of fans out there. :D

It's an infamous film. That means it's more than famous.

It taught us all that tequila is like beer. Invaluable knowledge on my 21st birthday. I can still sing "My Little Buttercup" from heart, too.

M. Night's "The Village". Most people hate this one and it's one of my favorite movies ever.

Yes! I enjoyed this movie, and Signs too. In fact, Signs is my favorite M. Night movie.

I LOVE Signs! I love most of his movies, even "Lady in the Water" (which, admittedly, i had to watch a few times before i "got" what he was trying to do with that one). And "The Happening" was awesome until it got stupid. Brutally stupid. But it started out GREAT.

Well... I love a few movies that my best friend just hates. They are:

- District 9

<snip>

One of my all time favorite Sci-fi movies. I thought D9 was incredible!

Star Trek: Generations

My second favorite ST movie (after WoK). i LOVE Generations.

That honor justly belongs to Avatar.

Indeed. MHO, Avatar is gorgeous to look at but pure shit.

First off, I agree that 'The 13th Warrior' is awesome and deserving of better reviews than it got.

Secondly, what heathens think 'The Abyss' is a bad movie?

I didn't know this movie wasn't much liked. My husband and I watched it again the other night and we both love it. The acting's superb, it features a pet rat (always a plus in my books) and the aliens aren't hostile, but friendly, and that's such a refreshing change.

Clearly you weren't watching the Special Edition. :D

I am sooooo happy you started this thread -- I've been thinking about doing the same topic but was a bit chicken about it.

My list:

The Fifth Element

The Shadow

The Phantom

Invincible (the Billy Zane tv movie, not the Mark Wahlberg one)

Lost In Space

Star Trek: Insurrection (PLEASE don't tell anyone!)

Watchmen

Big-Top Pee Wee (Where else can you see a horse flipping pancakes?)

Daredevil

Minority Report

A.I.

(I'm sure I'll think of a ton more in the morning.)

I LOVE The Fifth Element! One of my top favorites!

"Moooooooooolltiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Pass!"

How can anyone hate The Fifth Element and Minority Report? That's just not right.

Audiences seemed to like it more than critics (who hated it), but I thought the Martin Lawrence/Tim Robbins comedy 'Nothing to Lose' was hilarious. It's one of my favorite comedies.

I just saw that for the first time about a month ago and I loved it.

Awesome! :techman:

For the longest time whenever I was in the car with my friend Tony, if he got pissed about something I would turn to him and say "Don't kill me freaky Jason!" and he would start cracking up.

Nope, I must have watched the non-Special Edition that LoveFilm sent me. Must get my hands on the Special Edition now...
