Movie tie-in charity event - would fans support it?

So much energy and excitement around the new movie but little of it being channeled to benefit people. Being a fan should mean more than just buying tickets and merchandise. Think about this: a million seats will be sold opening weekend. If every fan contributed just $1 to a cause in the name of Star Trek, can you imagine what we could accomplish? I set up the Star Trek Movie Fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders with that in mind, and I hope you consider how much Star Trek means to you if you contribute to the cause.

Is this something fans can rally around during the excitement of the movie? Can you share this information with other fans? Thanks for the support!:klingon:

The London premiere which is on Monday night is a charity premiere. Tickets are £70 and the proceeds go to The Prince's Trust which helps young people improve their lives by education, training and employment.

I would have paid the £70 anyway but it's nice to be able to help out a charity.:) Roll on Monday!!

I didn't know about that charity event and I think it's great that Paramount is doing something, however, it still feels like a limited form of participation. You said you "would have paid the £70" but why didn't they give you the opportunity to do so. I just feel that Star Trek fans are so united that we should all have the opportunity to participate in using our enthusiasm to benefit a cause. So, hence, the Star Trek Movie Fundraiser. I hope you participate since you, and many others like you, wanted to but weren't given the chance .

Thanks.
