Movie scenes that freaked you out.

My dad made me watch A Christmas Story before it was ever popular. As a 5 year old I was always creeped out by the evil Santa pushing the kid down the slide and the weird elves.

A few to kick off...

The bit where Sam Neil digs out his own eyeballs in Event Horizon. (and a good chunk of the rest of that film)
The two guys getting stalked by the werewolf in American Werewolf in London. (and a good chunk of the rest of that film)
Practically all of The Blair Witch Project and the first Paranormal Activity.
Anthony Perkins getting whisked up by Maximillian in The Black Hole, and the ending.
Darth Vader crushing the guys throat at the beginning of A New Hope always freaked me out as a kid. Still strongly disagree with that film's rating.

When Jar Jar gets his hand stuck in the pod racer, during Phantom Menace, with Annie about to turn the engine on ... finger poised on the button, in fact ....

Oh yes....... Max .... Funky red robot that doubles as a mixmaster.

Yeah that bit in Star Wars still freaks me a bit. I'm sure you hear crunching sounds when Darth Vader does his neck thing.

Yeah you can, it sounds horrible. This scene cemented Vader as a scary bad guy as a kid. How this film got a 'U' certificate in the UK (the lowest possible) is beyond me, what with the severed arm, and barbecued aunt & uncle as well.

Ah yes, the ending...where Maximilian Schell's character gets trapped in Maximilian's shell.

Yeah it was well twisted. I can't seem to find a decent blu ray release of this film these days, I haven't seen it in years. Underrated classic. It's one film I wouldn't mind them remaking also.

^ I don't know if The Black Hole is out on BluRay but I do have it (in HD) from iTunes. Looks pretty good too.

Although if they remade the film, they'd have to call it something like Wormhole, because when the original was made they really didn't know what a black hole actually was or what it did. Now we know it's not a giant storm drain in space.

Yeah, that's a good one. His face as he was drilled out stuck with me for a while as a kid. Plus his body then fell into high voltage and cooked.

An R-rated Star Wars? I don't think that was ever going to happen!
ETA: Never mind, I see that was referring to the UK rating.

I'll add the dinner scene from Temple of Doom. I read the novelization before seeing the film, and knew that was going to be a big Nope! from me.

JAWS was much worse. Particularly with the second (boy) victim. How in the hell was it rated PG, then and now, appeal or not?

They made 4 Jaws movies and you can't unsee the last one what with the walking shark and all? Ugh!!!!!!!!

Yup. The Shining woman in 237

Not only the chest burst in Alien, but Ian Holm's attack scene is just horrifying. It's all his performance. It's truly ghastly... perfectly inhuman

Several of the scenes in Jacob's Ladder, like his demonic girlfriend, & eyeless faces etc... That whole movie just freaked me out

The Blob when the two teens take that old guy to the hospital and after a while she goes looking for her boyfriend only to find the Blob has blobbed him and he's melting as he's eaten, and still alive..... Great FX for the time. It was the 1988 remake of the movie The Blob.

A lot of practical effects were used and they still hold up kind of well today.
