Most terrifying nu-Who moment?

It's a loaded question really. There can only be one, as far as I'm concerned... the moment the TARDIS de-materialised around Sally Sparrow and Larry, leaving them surrounded by the Weeping Angels. I just about had heart failure the first time I saw that. One or two similar moments (Sally and Larry looking up to see the statue "coming towards them" after watching the DVD message in its entirety comes a close second. Feel free to add more.

Heck, the lightbulb flickering and thus letting the Weeping Angel inch closer and closer to Sally and Larry is probably my moment. Or even when Larry turns his head for a second and finds himself looking down an Angel's teeth as well.

I watched the episode with two cousins. They're teenagers who were pretty much accustomed to your "Hostels" and "Saws" and Rob Zombie movies. But "Blink" is the only one that had them hide under their sheets


Anyway, while probably not THE most terrifying moment, I got to rewatch Love & Monsters, and seeing Ursela get sucked (along with her scream) was pretty horrific, as was seeing the rest of LINDA's heads popping out of Victor Kennedy.

That bit where Larry is trying to keep his attention on the one Weeping Angel, but turns for a second and it appears a few inches from his face. The first time the show ever scared me, although I was watching it alone late at night.

"Blink" is, without a doubt, the single most frightening episode of nuWho yet produced. Especially when the Weeping Angel's face is fully revealed as it comes after Larry while Sally is away, forcing Larry not to blink.

I'm torn between the conclusions of "Blink" and "Midnight," both of which are just so tense and unsettling, "Blink" in a full-bodied scare mode and "Midnight" in a quieter, more actor-driven way.

Oh, good call. It must've been horrific for the Doctor to know what was going on around him and still be almost completely paralyzed. Also, the episode as a whole made me angry, which says something about the sheer strength of the writing and acting there.

Yep I have to agree on Midnight, that was pretty damn scary. But it was so unsettling... I'd almost have to force myself to watch it again, because although I enjoyed it, it left me feeling horrible. Which I guess was the intention. However Blink I can watch over and over again.

Blink is a more straightforward horror story. Midnight has a Twilight Zone element to it. Consequently, I'm torn. If I had to choose, I think I'd choose Midnight. The repetition of their words really did it for me.

"Midnight" is more unsettling because of the content, but "Blink" is scarier in that pure, visceral, "a-monster-is-going-to-eat-you" sense that you get as a kid.

Of course, "Blink" is very creepy.

I'd also like to nominate "Dalek" simply for taking a 40 year old pepper pot and making it scary again. There's something deeply unsettling about seeing the Doctor of all people pounding on the door, screaming to be let out.

And although it's a Torchwood episode, not a Doctor Who one, I give an honorable mention to when Captain John left Gwen paralyzed in that shipping crate in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang."

My son, age 13, literally shrieked and covered his eyes during Blink. I enjoyed watching his discomfort (seeing as he likes to play tough guy a lot), but this is probably the one episode that wins the award for Most Terrifying Moment.

Blink and Midnight for me. They are my 2 favourite episodes of Nu-Who which is funny because one is a Doctor-lite episode and one is a Companion-Lite episode.

I never thought an RTD episode would be listed amongst my favourites.

I never get scared watching TV or film. The first time I saw "Blink," I was 100% creeped out.

"Midnight" is more... emotionally draining than scary, I think. Everytime I see it, I have to come up for air when I'm done.

Nothing in "Doctor Who" - old or new - has ever really been frightening to me. It's all too silly.

I dont know if that was scary as much as it was shocking, I didn't believe they would actually kill her off like that or at that time.
