speaking of crazy gasmasked children . . . didn't the Doctor make a reference to it in a recent episode? can't quite place it but I think he did

one of the UNIT officers in the Sontran 2 parter if I recall correctly

And Elisabeth Sladen made a reference to it in the "Genesis of the Daleks" DVD commentary.

 

[Zulu Romeo]

"Midnight" was a true highlight of the last series - scary on a purely psychological level - and the interplay between the Doctor and the entity, which later becomes a full-blown battle of wits, and the ensuing paranoia, was truly engaging. The final lines of dialogue in that episode were for once truly haunting.

And of course, "Blink", which was viscerally scary and utterly imaginative at the same time.

I'd also include on the list of terrifying moments the sense of ominousness throughout "The Impossible Planet" too.

Yeah the bit in The Impossible Planet where the voice kept telling him not to turn around was pretty darn spooky!
