Most random "Hey, I recognize him/her from Star Trek!" moments

Ever recognized an obscure actor/actress from Trek in another show or movie and had a weird "How do I recognize him/her?" feeling? It just happened to me while watching the "Valley of the Shadow" episode of The Twilight Zone. James Doohan is in that one, but I recognized another actor from Trek as well. I looked it up and found out it was David Opatoshu, who played Anan 7 in "A Taste of Armageddon."

My usual avatar has changing pictures of Skip Homeier, one as Melakon, one as Dr. Sevrin, and one from a film he did at about 16 that was his screen billing showing his name (he was billed as "Skippy" as a child). At least three people have said they learned to identify him because of it.

There's a similar subject in the TOS forum, but it only covers actors who appeared on TOS, under penalty of Your Agonizer, Please or...The Rays (*CLAP!*)!

An actor I see all over the place from around that era who never appeared on TOS, but later did a memorable guest stint on TNG, is John Anderson (Kevin Uxbridge from "The Survivors"). I see him in many things, mainly Westerns. He did 11 different guest roles on The Rifleman, including Lucas McCain's estranged father-in-law.

As I type this, COZI is showing a 1965 episode of The Virginian that features Michael Ansara and Leonard Nimoy as a town marshal and his deputy.

Nehemiah Persoff is another, never on TOS though he was very active back then, finally showed up as Fajo's prospective buyer in TNG: The Most Toys. He's still with us, at 95.

I was also able to only catch part of an episode of The Virginian that guest-starred Barbara Eden and...Skip Homeier. Maybe they'll be showing that one again soon, I wanted to catch the rest of it.

(BTW, your usual avatar tends to make me hungry for peanut butter.)

I will always remember the second season premiere of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, with both David Opatoshu and Barbara Luna. David Opatoshu also showed up once on The Six Million Dollar Man.

I remember seeing Terry O'Quinn on Alias and thinking, "Fucking Admiral Pressman..."

It's been a long time since I've seen that episode, so when I watched Lost on DVD a couple years ago I didn't recognize Locke as Admiral Pressman. I did recognize his father as Henry Janeway(both played by Kevin Tighe).

Oh, come on, is there any doubt? ;)

Fun fact: There's at least one other Trek actor in that scene (but he hadn't yet done Trek when he filmed this).

I've been recording "Hogan's Heroes" remastered on TVLand. Last night I watched an episode with Arlene Martel playing an Underground agent named 'Olga', not her usual 'Tiger'. She looked so much prettier out of her 'T'Pring' getup.

^ It also happened in reverse: Worf's brother Nikolai Rozhenko was played by a former L&O regular, Paul Sorvino (he was Sgt. Phil Cerreta for a season and a half).

And speaking of "Hey, I recognize ****" moments: I bet DW fans did that when Alex Kingston appeared on SVU. She played a defense attorney named 'Miranda Pond'. It's likely the name was intentional. ;)

I've been watching the original Dallas via netflix and was on season 12 the other day and saw Robert O'Reilly and managed to recognize him without the klingon makeup

Robert O'Reilly has a brief scene in Ken Russell's 1991 film Whore. He's a pervert in a car, and when Theresa Russell tries to proposition him, he says "I wanna :censored: you up the :censored:!" to her distaste.

My cousin and I saw this during its original theatrical release when we were teenagers. We both applauded when the Enterprise appeared on screen.

It's much more common that I come back to a Star Trek episode I haven't seen for a while and recognize the actor from somewhere else.

Like, Battle Lines, holy crap, it's Mike!

Also Seinfeld has a ton of actors in common with TNG, and so does Stargate.
