most "normal" people don't know KIRK is dead

Consider this: for one thing Cpt Pickard is no medical examiner and in no way qualified to pronounce Kirk as dead.

For another we’ve known for a while that Kirk was looking forward to a reduced pace of life. Note his reluctance to embrace the Spocks peace initiative with the Klingons and his reluctance to leave the Nexes.

We can conclude that Guinan has been to the Nexes from her knowledge of it…she even went to visit Picard in the Nexes who also entered and left. So who knows what effect that dimension has on living organisms?

Kirk was presumed dead and he liked it that way…he was living large in the Nexes, It is entirely plausible that Kirk could have reanimated shortly after being covered with stones, slipped in among the confusion of the crashed Enterprise’s rescue efforts and is presently keeping a low profile.

Mary Magalene devoted disciple and rumored to be an intimate friend did not even recognize the recently resurrected Jesus, the son of God…so it is entirely possible Cpt Kirk just hauled himself on a rescue transport.

...jsut say'en I don't accept Kirk as being dead...if anything he's MIA.

I am genuinely struggling to tell whether this is a serious post or not.

Meh. About $80 million in domestic box office in 1994-95 dollars. Not a blockbuster, but it made more dough than two of the three TREK sequels that followed and was more warmly received by most fans than two of those said three, even if the whole Nexus/Kirk thing was extremely contrived and cheesy.

So what you are saying is that Picard killed a living Kirk when he buried him...

:wtf:

Okay, A) The Nexus was long gone when Kirk finally died (note how people disappear when they go into the Nexus. Kirk was still lying there) B) Picard buried him. If he isn't dead, he is probably pretty damned miserable.

You know, I haven't heard a vaild reason why Shatner should be in the movie other than he is the Shat. Very likely, the only people who would participate in that particular poll is people who actually have an opinion on the matter. You know who those people tend to be? Trekkies! Geeks, nerds like ourselves. The people who take this poll are very unlikely to be the notorious general public that is being seeked. Shatner isn't in it. Let's all just buck up and enjoy Pine taking the roll over.

Not only that... Picard also had to chop him into pieces...
(remember the 'The grave is too small!!!-debates? ;) )

Re: Heath Ledger is still dead…

Maybe Picard just bent Kirk's corpse in half and wedged/jimmied him into the already existing narrow crevice in the rock? Not like he'd have FELT anything. ;)

That friggin' Nexus...

The "Kirk" Picard buried was a figment of his imagination. The real Kirk is alive and well in the Nexus ribbon.

Next burning issue.

No, actually Picard never left the Nexus... which opens up even more explanations for the 'Enterprise' 'Trek08' look :D

Re: That friggin' Nexus...

Anyone else notice the SECOND grave with rocks right next to Kirk's? In the original ending of the movie where Soran shoots Kirk in the back and then dies crumpled on the rocks below, Picard felt sorry enough for Soran and his attempyts to return to his family inside the Nexus to bury him as well. But they never changed the shot of Picard standing over Kirk's grave with Soran's right next to him when they reshot the ending and final battle just two months before the film's release. An oversight they figured few if any would ever notice.

Now I need to watch that scene again...

Re: That friggin' Nexus...

Generations as a whole is best forgotten. What a mess of a film.

Are you sure? It doesn't really look like a second grave. There's no way Soran fit into a hole under those few stones!

Well, it is watchable... but a huge test on the suspension of disbelief... ;)

Yeah, and we thought Kirk needed to be chopped up to fit...

This thread is stupid.

Quit with the fanwank please!

Old Kirk is gone!

InstantKarma, might I suggest that if you don't care for a thread, simply back out of it and not open it again?

It's really quite simple.

There are only three people in this forum who have to read all the threads...and you are not one of them.

Thanks.

How hard can it be to take a frakking PULSE already?

'History recalls that you died saving the Enterprise B'

With everything else that went on that day I wonder if Picard even bothered to mention Kirk came back from the dead for a few minutes only. Would anyone belive him?

Re: Heath Ledger is still dead…

You guys can't have it two ways.

You want this movie to be a canonical prequel... Okay, if it fits with canon, then old Kirk is dead.

If it's a new line of canon, you can do whatever you want.

Make up your minds.
