The Inner Light. Picard spends the episode passed out on the floor having a dream. I cringe that someone might have decided to watch Star Trek for the first time and this was the week's episode.

Horrible as it is, anyone who thinks Spock yelling "Khaaaan!" is worse than Joe Piscopo and Data making spastic noises on the holodeck needs a slap.
I don't know, as dreadful as that scene is, there's now something quite wonderful about Data seeking advice on comedy from a tenth rate stand-up with no comic timing. I guess the Enterprise computer was trolling him.

For me, it was NuSpock's "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan"

I get that they were swapping Kirk and Spock's roles and were paying homage to TWOK, but I remember seeing that for the first time in theatres and the awkwardness of the delivery just totally pulled me out of the movie.
I saw TWOK in the theatre (several times), and that line never failed to impress me with the sheer strength of Kirk's voice and lungs. He was clearly a superior example of our species, as he was capable of shouting so loudly that he could be heard all the way through solid rock, into the vacuum of space.

"What does God need with a starship?" is arguably the best line in STAR TREK V.
Or anything else that people have sacrificed or left behind on various altars for the last several millennia... but of course that's another conversation for a different thread.

That's the first movie I nearly walked out of, because I found so much of it objectionable.

Hands down it was Spock singing with space hippies. That was so dated and so out of character as to be cringeworthy. Many of the other's listed above may be a bit awkward but still plausably in-character..
He didn't sing in that episode. He sang in "Plato's Stepchildren."

I just saw this one again awhile back and damn what were they thinking... :wtf:

Beverly and the space ghost that already had sex with her grandma, and her mom, and her mom...

No just no. :barf:

And Star Trek Into Darkness as a whole is just bad.

Voted Plato’s ...but the Gilbert &Sullivan...jeez!:barf2:

Then there’s the fan dance and the nazi episode and...

I'm voting for Quark's sex change.

Simply because having a man prance around in female clothing as a source of comedy seems extremely tired and cliched to me.

Some other moments on this list are definitely worse for me (for example Kes' Fury), but I can't score them exactly because imho they are worse than embarassing to watch -- they're offensive.

TOS nazi’s.
I’ve gone on a rant about this one before so I will spare you the most of it.
People on here defend the episode claiming that it is about racial intolerance etc..I would argue that at the time of production all the racial intolerance you could handle was being manifested a couple of states over from LA.
Running around in white bedsheets wouldn’t be half as much fun as mincing about in SS gear though.

I love this thread. I voted for more than I expected. I don’t know how “what does god need with a starship” is in the mix. I love that line! But I suppose some people may not like it.

One i think is missing is

I’m with starfleet, we don’t lie.

It makes me die a little inside!

Yar was so beautiful and despite her occupation, still managed to retain quite a bit of her femininity. I like her ... but ... she was fond of bringing up her experience with rape gangs, at the most inopportune moments to people who could do nothing about it, anyway. In that light, she was sort of the Debbie Downer of TNG. So, that's how I voted!

Spock's rape joke in The Enemy Within.

T'Pol spending an episode in her underwear begging for sex.

Pretty much any decon chamber scene.

Archer falling into T'Pol's breasts.

The joystick in Insurrection.

The moment in Insurrection where the camera slowly pans across our heroes putting on tough expressions, gunfighter style. [I was watching with a relative, who had very politely sat there quietly to that point. That was the moment where he lost it]

The line in Insurrection, from memory, "Where were you on the day of lightning when the artificial lifeform appeared to us."

Just...Insurrection. It's not even my least-favourite Trek film, but geez it made me cringe the most.

Stuff like Fury and These Are the Voyages aren't so much embarrassing as infuriating.

Insurrection truly was an embarrassment in the purest sense of the word. I got a buddy of mine to do a watch-through of all the Star Trek films (his first time seeing them), and that was the one he just couldn't help himself on. He genuinely enjoyed all the others, but INS was awful and he let me have it afterward. And, seeing it through his eyes for the "first time" I found myself really cringing through most of it.

My 3 and 6 year old kids like it though.

Fair point...

That said, the STID "KHHHAAAANNNNN!" was so destructive to that film for me personally. Up to that point, I was genuinely enjoying the ride the film was taking us on. But, that one moment did three completely disastrous things to me as a viewer and fan:

1. Came off as a mockery of the original line delivered by Shatner in TWOK, which is iconic and perfect.
2. Completely destroyed the emotional content of the "death" scene that had been very well acted and executed just prior
3. Made me view the entire last act of the film with intense disdain

So...it may not be more "embarrassing..." but it was the most off-putting to be sure. At least for me.

Yeah...the "KHHHHAAAANNNN" line did come off as weird, like it didn't really fit.
