most annoying tv character in history

Steve Urkel was who I thought of first.

Other mentions I agree with wholeheartedly:
Byron
Maya & Alejandro
T'Pol & Archer
Dylan Hunt
Zek, Ishka, & Rom

Characters I didn't see mentioned yet:
Tracy "oh no I freeze things make it stop!" Strauss from Heroes
Bariel & Shakaar from DS9 - why did Kira pick such DULL men?
TIDWELL from Life. Greasy, slimy jerkwad who needs to die

Survivors and I'm a Celebrity... is TV at it's worst

nothing more annoying than reality tv

Why would anyone mention Flanders? He's a legend.

Flanders is annoying in a good way, irritating but you want to keep watching because he's still kinda entertaining

there are other characters however that just make you change the channel or even throw stuff at the cinema screen

Another one for Starbuck from NuBSG. Every time I see her on screen I pray for a hull breach near where she is standing.

worst character on tv today

^ He likes to play the piano that only has one working note and doesn't want a new piano. What can you do?

I don't think anyone has yet mentioned the name that instantly jumped into my head when I saw this topic.

Twiki, from "Buck Rogers".

Yeah I know he's movie not tv but this character is one of the worst ever made
Scrappy Doo
Maybe even worse than JarJar
Getting lots of votes here, I don't know him. I've seen episodes and Babylon-5 has a big fan following and I plan on watching Babylon-5 sometime but people have advised me to skip the last season. IT SUCKS according to them. I think there's a big difference between someone who shows up last season in a few episodes to be annoying and someone who is annoying as hell for the entire series. The last season of Babylon sounds crapy and people like to blame problems on a person/character rather than blame it on more abstract stuff like bad production, bad writing, bad management. Maybe JMS wasn't as great as people say, maybe his last season of Babylon was a badly written turkey. If I do watch Babylon-5 I'll watch the early seasons and if the last one sucks I'll switch it off and make up my own ending
Neo-Starbuck was ok, the GINO crowd won't say it was better than the old but it was. The new was better and they tried to make something more macho and cool than Sigourney Weaver but Neo-Starbuck was only ok for a while. Both writers like Moore and the actress Katee really fucked up the character, she became a butch, annoying, screaming bitch. The shipper people who follow the show aka RonMorons will never admit Moore and Katee fucked up but you can see the opinions on the net. The cult of RonMorons need to start admitting she dragged the show down. Her character is now called, Slutbuck, the Dyke, Starb*tch, Stardrunk, the screming b*tch from HomeAlone, Starc*nt, Mancow, Starfrak
entire cast of Buffy
Spike, Buffy, Angel they all sucked

Wesley Crusher could be an obvious one, but he was partially redeemed as he improved during the third and fourth seasons. Connor from Angel is another one, as is Byron from B5.

All pale into insignificance though measured against the uber-irritant that is Janeway. Voyager had many flaws, chief amongst them was the lack of a strong leading character/actor.

Wow! I'm kinda surprised that people think that most of the cast of nBSG is annoying. I adored every single one of them! Why are there so many haters of nBSG??? I find that somewhat irritating. :brickwall: But I guess it's an opinion and everyone has one on here!
The most annoying sci-fi character..that's kinda a hard question to answer, but if I would have to pick, it would probably be that Hungarian sounding alien from Babylon 5..you know?? That alien with the hair that looks like a pin wheel on his head?? Although I tolerated him..sometimes I just wanted to pop the little so in so! :guffaw: Also that frakking annoying robot from Lost in Space that kept saying "Danger, Will Robinson, danger!" I just wanted to shoot that little you know what and say SHUT UP ALREADY WE HEAR U!

I think the reason some find BSG characters annoying is because those characters are portrayed as human. They have flaws, they let their feelings guide them to make flawed choices, they can be selfish, etc etc.

The BSG characters are a lot more colorful then most of what Star Trek has ever put out. Star Trek characters work together and get along almost constantly. If they do have a fight then it is just a small rough patch that they quickly get through (Ex: Picard and Riker in "Pegasus")

Ron Moore injected a lot of humanity into BSG. Rarely do a group of people get along and function as well as a Star Trek crew or other standard millitary like sci fi crew of some kind. In fact a group of people functioning that well together is extremly rare. Most of us have jobs (I hope). Think about how well everyone at your work functions and works together. It can be a headache with some people being selfish, some guy might be great at his job but he is a a-hole and annoying to many. People are willing to step on one another to get a promotion or keep their position of power etc. They I mean how often do co-workers talk about how they could do so and so's job ten times better if given the chance? It happens all the time.

It isn't a dark view of humanity either. It is just we are too often given a too perfect and steralized version in Science Fiction. They ignore the human conflict.
