Most annoying regular character

As far as Jake goes, I can't understand people liking him or disliking him one way or the other. He's just there. I have no opinion of him.

I really can't understand that either. He was a good enough minor character that just got more and more phased out of the show as it went on. I thought he had some good moments with Nog and when the Cardassians took over the station, but he was far from being really important, and became more of a recurring character than a regular.

Nog, no question about it. Arrogant, snotty, way too gung ho......Jake was so much more likable.

I'll agree that in the beginning Nog was extremely irritating, but I think that as time went on, specifically after he joined Starfleet, he became much more enjoyable. I even started to enjoy seeing his name in the cast.

Eh, it's actually the other way around for me. Sure he was irritating at the beginning, but so is pretty much every other Ferengi child. I could live with his childish antics because I didn't expect anything more from him.

It was after he was made a Starfleet ensign that he really started to get on my nerves. He was sooo arrogant and he had such a smug attitude, especially around Jake. The way he treated Jake like a lesser being because he wasn't in Starfleet really upset me. And his behavior in Valiant made him totally irredeemable.

EDIT: Just deleted something really mean that I shouldn't have said.

Well, let's see...
(1) Neelix, natch, but for me, honest to God, Riker is as bad and possibly worse, if only because he wasn't supposed to be annyoying. To this day, I cannot bear to watch most of the Riker-centric episodes. And besides, although annoying, Neelix was at least distinctive, whereas Riker was a generic Space Patrol-style hero.
(2) Wesley.
And I know this is pure heresy, but (3) is McCoy. He had his moments, but they were few and far between.
McCoy? Seriously? He is one of the best characters ever. Few and far between moments? I think I'll start another thread of great McCoy moments. I can think of about 25 off the top of my head.

I know a lot of people feel that way, and all I can say is that I do NOT get it. He could be funny, but he was often a caricature of the Lovable Curmudgeon, and that was a shtick that, for me, got old really fast.

Also, I couldn't stand how mean he was to Spock. All that "But you feel nothing, do you Spock?" garbage got old even faster than the Loveable Curmudgeon shtick. I remember at age 8 or 10 thinking, "He knows Spock feels stuff, so why does he keep saying that?"

But by all means, start your thread. You'll find lots of other McCoyites here. I'm not unique in my distaste for the character (particularly when he's gnawing on Spock for absolutely no reason other than that he happens to be a handy target), but I'm somewhat unusual.

I was never annoyed by Neelix but..

I absolutely loath Riker. I wouldn't use the word "annoyed" because it's too mild. If I met Riker IRL I would also loath him. I also think he and Picard didn't have a lot of chemistry going between them, they would have done better to pair Picard with an interesting personality rather than a cardboard cutout alpha jerk.

(Like Shelby!!)

Yeah, Teacake, I agree. He was just so so so boring and conventional. And he did NOT have to be. I don't think the character was helped by the acting, but the biggest problem, I think, was how the character was written. Boring. And conventional. Why why why?

I thought he came across as an asshole most of the time. Just so aggressive even when barking out simple orders. And SMARMY.

Now that I've got to disagree with. When did Riker ever act that way? I always liked him and thought he was a really fun and cool guy.

Admiral, for those of us that Riker rubs the wrong way, the answer to your question is "Almost every episode." You know how in the real world when someone really gets under your skin there comes a time when almost nothing they do is right? Well, that's how Riker strikes those of us who don't care for him. No offense, I hope - I realize that others feel differently and that's fine with me. But there it is. He bugs the heck out of me.

Of the recurring characters I would have to choose Neelix, I guess. But I thought Rom was much more annoying. I cannot abide stupidity or feebleness of purpose in a man.

The most annoying, stupid, oddball character I can think of was Wesley. I was so glad when he left! Just a loser teen who messed stuff up.
Second in line is Hoshi. I just hate the way she talks. She's so annoying and fragile.

Welsey. No one else is even close. Roddenberry got a little carried away with his boy god. It got so ridiculous, I didn't see a point in having the rest of the cast. Afterall, Wesley could do everything perfectly all by himself.

I actually liked Lwaxana. She was so outgoing and friendly, she's definitely my favorite of Majel's roles.

As for the most annoying character, I'd have to say Pulaski.

I'm a TOS fan, but not particularly a Kirk fan.

The only Trek Captain that I've really, really liked was Picard. Kirk was, well......Kirk. Shatner's acting certainly didn't help matters. Plus he was just such an uninteresting person. Your stereotypical cowboy in space; he's strong, handsome, good with the ladies, a fighter......how much more stereotypical and boring can you get?
Sisko was more likable than Kirk, but I think his character suffered from Brooks overacting at times, and I didn't find a "family man" captain to be all that interesting. He didn't seem like a very conflicted character. Sure he was the Emissary and his wife died at the beginning of the show, but as an individual he just wasn't very complex, unlike Picard who had a lot different sides.
Then we get Janeway, the only captain who I've seriously wanted to slap in the face. She's such a hypocrite. One day she says and does one thing, the next day she says and does the total opposite. Ugh...
I haven't seen ENT, so I can't comment on Archer.

EDIT: I wasn't trying to be super harsh on Sisko, I just couldn't ignore some of his flaws. I do like his character, and I should have mentioned some of his better episodes, like Rocks and Shoals, In The Pale Moonlight, and Past Tense Part 1 and 2.

I am a huge TOS fan and Kirk isn't one of my favorites, either. He had his moments, but there are times that I like TOS in spite of Kirk rather than because of him. The plots, the premise, the idealism, most of the other characters and, of course, Spock make up for any negative feelings I have for our cowboy captain.

Picard used to get on my nerves at times, because he was always so smug and condescending. Especially in ST:FC and "The Neutral Zone" when he bragged about how better things were in his future.

I would girlslap Harry Kim in the face if given the chance.
That little shit.
