Most annoying regular character

Who was the most annoying regular cast member of any of the series? I'm not referring to guest stars or occasionally reoccurring characters (like Mudd or Q) but to series regulars.

I think Wesley Crusher is the hands-down most annoying regular character ever. Wesley was so unrealistic in so many ways, like in Justice where he said there were some games he just didn't play yet (or whatever the line was), or when only he could come up with the solution to save the day. They sort of redeemed his character a little bit in some of the final episodes he was in, but overall he was just plain annoying.

I think Voyager's Neelix comes in second (although Tuvix would have been a great series regular IMHO). His love affair with Kes seemed a little inappropriate to me. I just think his character served little purpose. I don't know if they intended him to bring a little humor to the series, or if he was supposed to be "McCoy" to Tuvoc. Either way, I just don't think his character worked.

If Wesley or Neelix was your favorite character, I do not intend to offend you. It's just my opinion.

Who do you think the most annoying regular character was, and why?

Beverlump. OMG she was awful. Terrible writing, and acting to match. Not a believable doctor. About as sharp as a tennis ball.

For me it was Janeway, Tuvok or Neelix.

Neelix grew on me, mainly due to the talent and efforts of Ethan Phillips. Tuvok was pretty unlikeable and didn't improve, but didn't grate like Janeways mumsy Hepburn routine, so Janeway gets the vote...

Travis Mayweather... Unlike Wesley, he had no purpose, and received attention for nothing at all. Wesley at least irritated me. Travis was just some random guy stealing screen time while I'm waiting to watch Star Trek.

Mirror Travis could be seen as somewhat redeeming moment explaining why he was there. Apparently, some guys can only be interesting in the mirror universe (though still not particularly outstanding).

As annoying as some of the other characters, all of them at least they make some impression.

I personally only find Wesley to be irritating in the first two seasons, when he's Boy Wonder saving the ship nearly every week. By season 3 he was becoming a bit more tolerable and he seemed a bit more realistic.

All the Enterprise characters were more interesting in the Mirror Universe than they were in the Prime.

Neelix annoyed me more than anyone I think, although Kes and Chakotay had their moments too.

Chakotay...Beltran's a horrible actor. Then Tasha Yar. Denise Crosby is bad too. Some characters like Travis Mayweather had so little to do they couldn't be annoying if they even tried.

Neelix, hands-down. Largely in that despite being an obnoxious shithead, the characters tell us that he's sympathetic and that we should care about him. He has his good moments but they are, unfortunately, few and far between.

And...to be honest, people who say Wes was the worst thing ever make me wonder if they ever saw him in anything after the first season. Everyone sucked in the first season.

I think the actor that played Mayweather could have made the role great if he had had more than three or four lines after the pilot. I can only remember one episode about him.

Neelix.

I like Ethan Phillips, and there were one or two instances where the character was written as interesting and engaging, but for 99% of the time, hands down the most annoying character.

Wesley had some obnoxious moments, Chakotay was rather bland and uninteresting, Tuvok was clearly underdeveloped, and Mayweather even moreso, but none were outright annoying nearly every time they appeared.

^This. I couldn't have said it more perfectly.

That said, Rom gets a tad annoying at times...Then when you have to deal with Rom and Leeta...Ugh. And then Rom becomes the Grand Nagus *shake. my. head* (Yeah, on that note, uhm, hello! Brunt!!)

Oh, and I can't stand Hoshi....:barf:

Neelix, hands down. No contest.

I do agree with the OP that his relationship with Kes felt somewhat inappropriate. It was almost as if she was taking advantage of a mentally handicapped child.

Ayup. When I saw the title of this thread, kind of had a feeling what a lot of people would be saying. Funny, that. ;)

Funnily enough, can't think of any series regular that especially annoyed me on an ongoing basis. Considering certain episodes, I think most characters were (IMO) in dire need of having someone's foot broken off in their @$$es at one time or another. But that was often more to do with the script than anything else.

Neelix, just a little goblin with jealousy issues.
Harry Kim, Trek's answer to Kenny McCormick....and they got rid of Kes to keep this guy?

Word is, the plan was to get rid of Harry, that's why he was infected by Species 8472 in part 1 of Scorpion. But a magazine (People?) named Garrett Wang one of televisions best looking actors, so Harry got to stay because of that. Someone had to leave the cast with a new character joining, so that ended up being Kes.

Meh, and we get to keep a character who's got the personality of a clam.:p
