Mortal Kombat Rebirth Short (Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan)

i would guess that there would be no Outworld/Shao Khan/Raiden/Goro stuff. if they're turning Baraka into a nutjob plastic surgeon instead of being an alien, i can't see a thunder god or a four-armed alien appearing.

I think Mortal Kombat would make a great TV series...with what they do on Supernatural...I am sure it would be ok for 9pm or 10pm TV. There is alot of story there a movie can't touch on. JMHO.

It was a TV series, called Mortal Kombat: Konquest. Very short lived, blink and you may have missed it kind of thing. I think it lasted one season on TNT. This was in the late 90s. The story focused on Kung Lao and I think it was entirely in Outworld. I just remember in the series finale, Shao Kahn had everybody killed. I think he may have even uttered "FATALITY!" too.

Oh Yeah. I think it would work better now though...with a good budget and writing...casting. :guffaw:

Loved the first movie, even though I only ever played the first couple of games casually, but I loved this short film. Someone noted how it might not stretch out to 2 hours, I agree. Do it like the first X-Men movie, a short and sweet 90 minutes that leaves you begging for more.

I saw the series on television, and some of the animated series. Neither was all that great.

I owe Admiral Young an apology for my rant, because I just read an interview with the man behind the pitch trailer - Kevin Tancheron (sp?) - wherein he stated that, if he were to turn the pitch trailer into a feature, the supernatural and mystical elements of the MK franchise would in fact be included and introduced.

BTW, for anyone who's interested, the interview I'm talking about can be found here.

I just rewatched it again and didn't see her. The only woman that's visible is the one standing next to Cage when Jax is talking about him, but she doesn't look that much like Jeri. It's a pretty brief shot so I could be wrong.

She walks into the interrogation room towards the end, maybe the last minute or so.

Also, the video on ComingSoon seems to be missing about 30 seconds. Try YouTube instead.

She comes into the room and I believe Jax says something like "Ah Sonya Blade" and she sits down next to him and gives him a folder. Digific it's all good, no apologies necessary. I completely understood where you and others were coming from with the topic I just disagreed and thought we should wait no biggie. Thanks for posting the link I've yet to read those comments.

So it should be noted that the director is the brother of Maurissa Tancharoen who co-wrote "Dr. Horrible" and is married to I believe Zack Whedon. She felt the need to point that out on her twitter page.

I actually thought that was pretty good. And I don't even like MK.

Disclaimer: My feelings are in no way influenced by Jeri's involvement--in no way at all.

Finished reading the interview and I really want this made now and Kevin to direct it. It seems like he has a really clear vision of where he wants to take the franchise and I'm along for the ride! FATALITY!
