Was it Spock in Private Little War?
I don't think so, he was seen later in sickbay if I recall correctly.
Plus at the end when Kirk orders up the flintlocks
McCoy disappears in the middle of Act 2 of Doomsday Machine after Decker takes over.
That's it.
He is gone after only 22 minutes!!!
And no i wasn't counting the eps he wasn't in!!
Y'know, I thought of that one, but I just couldn't picture the start of the episode or the scene on the bridge near the end well enough to know what McCoy was up to.

Which means there is still (at least) one episode where Kirk is asleep in a chair.
I was thinking maybe "Dagger of the Mind," but Kirk actually falls out of the neural neutralizer chair before passing out on the floor. Same with "Space Seed" -- he falls out of the command chair to the floor. And I don't think "unconscious" counts as "asleep" anyway.

But the original question said "sleeping in a chair," and falling unconscious and being draped halfway over a chair isn't quite the same thing. So if this is what Grant had in mind, I question his definitions.
