More TOS engine room pics

Thanks Mytran. Have you seen the video?
Your set is certainly a lot more user-friendly than the TOS-E which wasn't anywhere as clearly labelled

I was a bit confused at first when the Hangar Deck popped up until I realised that you weren't going for an actual deck plan layout. Very cute to have Kirk and Spock as neighbours.

The Engineering set was superb! Is that observation deck based on the original MJ sketches for Mark Of Gideon?

The observation deck was indeed from observations from the episode Mark Of Gideon though I still have to build the window controls. I really struggle to find drawings of the set. I'm looking for ones for Sickbay, the lab and M'coys Office. I am in the middle of Kirks quarters, which I'm having to guess by eyeing it. As far as I can see Kirk's quarters had two doors which as you say I have marked Kirk and Spock. I would like to see a deck plan but I'm not sure if there is an official one, what I have modelled so far is the studio layout. It would be fun to see a straight corridor like in the second or first pilot.

Glad to have you back on the Enterprise. Can't wait for Kirk's Quarters, Sickbay and the Rec Room. Does Kirk get a bathroom? We shall see.

The properly curved wall and the way it's in corridor format (as opposed to just a single room) reminded me of this sketch: http://www.trekcore.com/specials/albums/sketches/STTOS_Sketch_MarkOfGideon_ObervationCorr.jpg

As for the eyballing, there exist clear set plans for the season 1 layout, the season 2 layout and detailed 4-way plans for the Briefing Room and Cabin. If you don't have them PM me and I'll send you download links.
As for the WNMHGB setplan, Firebird on this forum did excellent work recreating them:

Thanks for this Mytran

No worries, I have PM'd you. They're called "conversations" on the TrekBBS, you'll find a link on the right of the dropdown menu when you hover the mouse over your profile.

So, did you do this entire set via eyeballing?

No I do have the top down stage set plan but that's it.

In that case the 4-way plans of the Captain's Cabin and the Briefing Room should.
Bear in mind though that they are plans for the S1 Briefing Room, which was extended by 48" at the start of S2

I'm probably just unobservant, but I don't recall seeing other modelers giving the Burke chair backrest pieces any upholstery seams. Now THAT'S attention to detail!

Holy moley you’re right! That is impressive OCD-level attention to detail!

The reason or explanation for this may already have been answered elsewhere, but I can’t help but be amused (and oddly comforted) that there is a USA flag in your 23rd century briefing room. :techman:

lol I looked on "Star Trek Continues" for some of the references but I didn't know what flags they were, I "assumed" that one would be a federation flag. Does anyone know what the other would have been?

“Bjo Trimble interviewed set designer William W. Thiess and we discovered that the "United Space" flag was three unequal stripes of cloth, dark blue, white, dark blue stapled together. These were draped and placed on the pole so as to simulate a draped horizontal tri-band flag. Attached to the top of the staff were two (one each) trapezoidal "streamers", one red and one white.”

There have been various interpretations of what this might have looked like. You might want to check out Donnie’s briefing room to see his:

Hi mate, thanks for that it's really useful. I am aware of Donny's work, he's my CGI hero and the reason I got into this.
