More Pixar sequels?

Put me on the "more sequels doesn't equal bad" side of things. These are all decent and creative worlds. A sequel to what may be considered one of Pixar's lesser works, like A Bug's Life or Cars, may actually improve and deepen the world and franchise. Maybe they just feel that they've created enough original worlds to work in that it's time to return to some of them. I just wish they didn't have to have either/or when it comes to sequels versus original stories.

They don't have much choice, these movies take years to plan and produce, and at best they probably have the majority of their team devoted to their current, next release and a smaller team developing their next project. So if they want to do 2-3 sequels it will take them the next five years to do it and they don't have much time for anything else in the mean-time. They're not like a regular production company that can just hire more directors and crew to make whatever movies they can get financing for.

Though I'd certainly be disappointed if they didn't do any original movies for the next ten years and instead went through their entire catalogue making sequels.

As long as the sequels remain as good as, or better than the originals (like Toy Story 2), I have no problem with sequels. It's when they start churning out shitty sequels (like Disney's whole library of direct-to-video sequels to their classics) that I start getting turned off.

And there's nothing within Pixar that makes me think that's going to happen anytime soon.

I say bring on the sequels. There may be a time when I get sick of them eventually, but that's going to take some doing.

3 voice actors are dead? I knew about Newman. Did someone finally serve the public good and take out Larry the Cable Guy?

George Carlin had a small role and I can't remember the third person.

Joe Ranft, voiced Lenny the Binoculairs and Wheezy the Penguin.
Charlie Adler will voice Wheezy and Cheech Marin will voice Lenny.
I wonder who they'll get to voice Heimlich if the Bug's Life sequel really happens. :(

Since it's been 11 years since the last Pixar sequel, I'm waiting to see Toy Story 3 before I make any kind of judgment on whether this wave of sequels is good or bad. In all likelihood, the movies will be pretty good. I definitely want to see more movies from Pixar that are original and/or hard to sequelize, so I hope that there is a healthy balance in the future.
